Major Site Updates

I rented my server and original domain with another purpose in mind from a biographical site about Gavriil Popov.  That shows.  So, I have rented a new server, and a new domain.  In the timeframe of a few months a new website will be hosted on gavriilpopov.org.  This new site will have a new layout, new color scheme, improved biographical sources, more professional citations, a discography page, and a calendar!  Also, stay tuned for a possible short documentary coming out in the near future...

Copyrights

Despite having a copy of the sheet music, I will NOT be able to host a PDF of the Chamber Symphony, op. 2, and Symphony No. 2, op. 39.  This is because Boosey & Hawkes still owns the copyright to these pieces.  These pieces can be rented by going to their website.

MAJOR UPDATE

I have made a major revision to the front page of the website.  Thanks to the information at http://absolutezero.your-board.com/t52-gavriil-popov-1904-1972 I was able to greatly expand the biography.  I also added a few opuses to the list.  Go check it out now at http://gavriilpopov.com!

From left to right:  Symphony No. 5, Symphony No. 3, “Музыка Молодых,” Symphony No. 6, and on the bottom is the Chamber Symphony.  As soon as I get a scanner, these all will be available on classical.su!

Just finished typing up the liner notes for the Byline record.  They are available at http://23.94.33.26/ustvolskaya_duet_sonata_liner_notes.pdf /byline_notes.pdf

It isn't related to Gavriil Popov but I did obtain a vinyl copy of Galina Ustvolskaya's Sonata No. 1 & Grand Duet.  These have been digitised and put on YouTube in the same manner as the Byline record.

8/3/2016: Found the Books!

Thanks to the help of the kind Dr. Kevin Bartig of Michigan State University, I have successfully tracked down the location of Popov's writing.  However, the nearest copy of this very rare book is still very far from where I live.  I have to make preparations to travel to its location.  So until then, progress on this website will mostly be limited to what I can do with an Internet connection.  In the meantime I will keep vigilance on my Russian.

My eventual goal is digitise and translate the contents of the book(s), then make it available for free online.
