Hi there darling! Ooooh, more Diavolo, yay!~ Here we go :3
Teenager Diavolo handling his first crush on a classmate
“Diavolo” personality didn’t fully manifest until the priest who grew him found his mother’s body under the garage floor, but, even if the “Doppio” personality was the main one, some glimpses of Diavolo could already be seen, especially when Doppio was in serious danger.
Since the moment Doppio hid his mother’s body, Diavolo, who always existed inside Doppio, started to manifest to warn Doppio about the world’s dangers. Doppio never had many friends -say: no one- due to his strange behaviour and appearance -plus, it was known that he was a prisoner’s son so almost no one wanted to stay near him-; Diavolo, the voice that talked to him, the “person” that called him on the phone was his only friend, the only one who cared about him. For Doppio, he was everything.
Even if the Diavolo personality wasn’t fully developed, it was already paranoid and capable of intense feelings as much as Doppio. And that’s how the Diavolo personality fell for the new classmate. Being them new, they weren’t affected by general prejudices and so they were, in fact, the first person, aside the priest, to show a friendly side to Doppio/Diavolo. Diavolo, inside Doppio, liked to spend time with them. He… fell for them. He developed a crush.
However, he didn’t realize it. He just knew he felt strange, but didn’t say anything even to his other half when he called him. Doppio trusted him with his life and he wanted to be sure about what to do, before telling him this all. Slowly, looking around through Doppio’s eyes and hearing through Doppio’s ears, he more or less understood that what was affecting him was a “crush”.
He asked his Doppio to discreetly investigate around about this thing called “crush”. And Doppio did so. When it was clear that a crush could develop to love and that sincerity was required, in this kind of things, Diavolo freaked out. This couldn’t happen!! He couldn’t be revealed, his past couldn’t see the light!! He already hated his past and what he was -all embodied in his mother-, he wanted to destroy it completely and start again in a world where no one knew who he was but just who he said he was. A confectioned identity… hidden in shadows, where he could be finally safe from his odious past and other people’s judgement.
A crush, so, it’s too dangerous. It would mean exposing himself and who he is too much for his likings. This story must end. Diavolo forces himself to stop feeling affection for them and forces Doppio too to be distant. It works: seeing how things are going, his crush soon loses interest on him, leaving him to his coveted and safe loneliness. From this experience Diavolo learned an important lesson: never let feelings get on your way. He said it to Doppio, he repeated it to him every day, hoping he had learned the lesson too. It wasn’t so, as Trish’s existence shows.
