Teaching High Schoolers
Honestly, teaching high schoolers is not easy. I was at my internship site last Monday, and after thirty minutes, I was exhausted. Every time what I think after the class is how much I do not want to become a classroom teacher. The reason is that teaching students who do not desire to learn is not easy. During this week, I have been watching and reading about motivation and how motivation is the key for learning. I value heavily on one’s choice-- if they do not want to be in classroom to learn from me, then don’t come, because that is such a waste of time for both myself and themselves. If there are something else that they would rather do, I want them to go ahead and do that. I do not want obligate anyone to follow my lead if they do not desire. Thus, I guess I should not teach K-12 or at a school. I probably work for a private after school school, or like a GED school.
