Coal gasification projects
A Rs.6,133-crore incentive approval should have accelerated India’s Coal gasification projects, yet Parliament’s latest review highlights persistent vagueness in timelines. The Standing Committee warns that the 2030 target for Coal gasification projects cannot be met unless structured monitoring frameworks are adopted. Current timelines—often limited to “FY2029 or FY2030”—fail to provide visibility into quarterly progress, leaving Coal gasification projects exposed to delays in FEED, environmental clearances and technology integration. The report also underlines the growing intersection between Coal gasification projects and hydrogen, CCUS and downstream chemicals—areas already being explored by selected applicants such as New Era Cleantech and Jindal Steel & Power. Parliament argues that incentive design must explicitly acknowledge these synergies to future-proof India’s industrial policy, Coal Gasification Projects, Industrial Decarbonisation, Coal Mission, Energy Policy India, Clean Industry.
