This week in Bane fanfiction... as told by Bane
I apologize for my recent absence, but even mercenaries require time away from the rooftop. I have many updates to cover. So, open fire!
Erin is kidnapped by Vincent, the uninvited guest of our dinner party in Peruvian Peril. He recognizes her as the unaccounted-for victim at the clinic where he massacred all the employees and stole drugs. As the nefarious bastard flies her to Mexico City, I call in a favour to a contact at the White House for information on the kidnapping killer. Perhaps marriage has calmed me. I note that I no longer allow fear to complicate my ability to do my job when Erin's safety is threatened. This was not always the case. I recall one incident when Erin was under fire by hired killers, and in my irrational state I proposed marriage...
In the latest chapter of A Rose in the Darkness, the woman I raised, vowed to protect and for whom I endure endless pain, betrays me for the last time. Talia, who enjoys nightly intercourse with Bruce Wayne, is jealous of the importance of Margaret Rose in my life, and she has finally decided to separate the two of us by sending me on a pickup job while allowing Margaret Rose to escape from the kitchen. She has somehow been able to acquire (from me) more cigarettes and coffee with her negotiating skills. And when I brought her to my room, she started the 72 hours and negotiated away all the means by which her resolve could be weakened by me: sleep, light, food, etc, including rape. She is a smart lady, and my conscious mind will continue to do battle with her...
The always excellent Beyond the Shadows is the sequel to my origin story, Risen from Darkness, and is an account of my achievements as I move through the ranks upon leaving the pit. Talia's father, Henri Ducard, takes me in and offers medical treatment. His doctors are able to devise a mask for me, which delivers constant pain relief. He locates my grandfather, Thomas Dorrance, the man who put my mother in the pit, and he accompanies me on a trip to confront Dorrance. It does not go well, of course, and I throw my grandfather into the pit after giving him a tour of the place...
