There had been no reason for Brandish to believe that district alpha was home to mutated humans. That was before she had triggered a dangerous chain reaction...
Having convinced a resident of the district into helping her gain access, Brandish had headed away from the huts, despite the warnings that had been called after her.
She hated the idea of being underground, yet she refused to leave any inch of the city undiscovered in her search to find a way home, a way to regain her full magical ability or just answers as to why she had been brought there.
Her eyes had adjusted to the dark to some extent, yet she found the tunnels, the echos of her foot fall and other sounds disorientating and uncomfortable. She cursed herself for not bringing a torch with her.
The mage had been wandering for an unmeasured amount of time, the eerie atmosphere slowly seeping in and gnawing at her nerves. She began to jump at movements in the water that glazed the floor.
She came to a junction. Pausing to make a choice, she sensed something approaching. Already tense, she instinctively draw her wooden knife from her jacket, slashing out as she turned on her stalker in one fluid moment.
Her blunt blade slammed against the cheek of something, the impact causing little motion on the part of her target. Shocked, she stared, trying to make out the features of the human standing before her.
For a moment it did nothing. Brandish brought on foot back, attempting to slowly move away from it. It was this movement that instigated the attack. With one sweep of it’s arm she was thrown to the other side of the tunnel.
Brandish hit the wall of the tunnel with her back, crying out in pain before falling forward into the murky water.
She choked and spat out a the water that had slashed into her mouth when she hit the ground, coughing from a combination of the water and being winded when she hit the side of the tunnel.
The heiress drew in a sharp breath and winced afterwards, her ribs immediately throbbing in protest. She had a smart remark on her tongue ready to be spat out at the idiot who stated the obvious. Of course she had some broken ribs. The initial hit from the strike hurt enough, but slamming into a nearby wall made the pain all the more apparent.
“I-I kn--” Her breaths were coming in clipped and short, each inhale shallow and hardly helpful. She winced and bit down on her tongue. Speaking was proving to be a big issue. She tried to curl in on herself just slightly, but instead let out a sharp yelp of pain as her body ached in protest.
“I-It is broken.” She choked out, hissing in pain and biting back a swear. “At least-- some-- of them are.”
Will let out a sigh as he slumped over the bar counter. The club had been quiet as of late, which was making for a rather long and boring shift. Furthermore, one of his managers told him to keep his pokemon inside their pokeballs, which meant that he lost one of the assets that made him a great host and performer.
Plus he hadn’t heard from Hikari for a while and was determined to use his job as a way to avoid thinking about it.
