I keep thinking that Shikamaru and Temari probably never even got married, just simply got together. The idea of Shikamaru proposing also seems real weird to me, tbh. So if there was actually a proposal and they did got married, he just probably went like: "Yeah, but when we're married I'm-- oh" Sort of thing. Or even jokingly, since they do that a lot. I dunno

he definitely doesn't propose the conventional way. Either Temari forces them to be labelled as "married" for official reasons (I mean she is the kazekage's sister, her name should be changed - as well as being married probably means certain benefits for the dual citizenship, as well as to strengthen liasons). 

I mean they're definitely married, i think. But how it gets there is definitely unconventional.
