"City my city, today a portal opened on Ponce. It swallowed the Yarob Temple with its exquisite fonts. I jumped out of my car as it got sucked inside. So did the Eagle’s Bar and Atlanta’s pride parades, with the queens and the gangsters all mangled in the warp, with the Ihop and Taco Bell all completely absorbed…a twisted rabbit’s hole indeed. Alice hold on to your mushrooms and follow me."

Saturday nite comic illustrating outside Donna Vam Goghs in Candler Park. I rode here 3 miles on my bike. At the Candler Park Market across the street I got a pulpy coconut juice to drink with my Publix sub. It is really sublime to be out on my own doing what I love, making it all happen. It's good to remind myself that I don't have to be stuck in a studio to get things done. Genius flows from connection to life...and I am getting connected!

City, my city - pieces that are meant to be landscapes indicating the terrain of my subconscious effected by my material atmospheres. At least, that's part of the working artist statement... But really, they are also personal poetic odes to understandings connections made, imagined, or lost. I used to do these pieces as sidewalk chalk drawings and it is my dream to be able to do quite a few (over 60?) of them in freedom park. Why? Well I like the connection that sidewalk chalk makes. It is humble yet impactful. I think it is an easy medium and somewhat forgotten when it comes to the basic art culture. It is really cool though to see some one create with it. There are so many children and adults who really enjoy seeing the creation process, and all of my pieces are improv abstracts focusing on the emotional, decision-making elements of being an artist. These are the things that are hard to teach in art....why something works or doesn't for instance, oolor choices and combinations, shapes and variables. It all presents itself strongly in abstract art.
For those reasons, I really want to bring this series to the sidewalks! But until then, enjoy it here....or here.
