ari was predictable, and though she would like to believe otherwise, a creature of habit. she relied on routine, and order, and security as her biggest things of comfort and nothing about the events following the seance promoted any of that. there was one thing- one place, one person... that did. so, naturally, after a sleepless, upsetting night, ariadne was headed to cleo’s.
it wasn’t a selfish act, though maybe it was bred from selfish desires. the distress of the earth witch had not gone by unnoticed, and though ari knew little of any history between luce and her friend, she had enough intuition to feel some level of heartbreak; even without answers as to why. she wanted to find comfort, and in doing so, provide it.
the plants are what set off warning bells in ari’s mind first. lifeless and limp, fading and dreary... and her heart skipped a beat. she didn’t even knock, just opened the door and peeked in, and the sight within was even worse than the sad setting by the front door. “cleo?” she called through the house, concern ringing clear, stepping in through the door. “clementine?!”
