Cleota Lydia Mistshade
Name: Cleota Lydia Mistshade Nickname(s): None Prefix: Miss Race: Sin'Dorei Age: Young Sex: Female Eye Color: Fel Green Hair Color: Black Height: Short(er than the average Sin'Dorei) Body Type: Petite Birth Place: Silvermoon Current Residence: Undercity Family: Mother & Father (Alive & Well) Relationship Status: "Don't you think I'm a little young for that?" Children: None Alignment: Lawful Good
Personality: Cleota is both kind, generous, and warmhearted, but also very naive. There are many teachings in life she has yet to learn, and this can prove to be downright dangerous in the wrong company. Luckily for her, she keeps so much to herself that her own introvert nature seems to be protecting her. When it comes to the birds and the bees, Cleota tends to clamp up about anything sexual. She's -extremely- shy about it because of her age and naivety. Often times she will catch herself staring at another male she thinks is 'cute' and be completely unable to look at him if he notices (and speak to him!). There are few topics Cleota is -very- opinionated of. She loathes typical aristocratic Blood Elven society where status, wealth, and breeding seem to be the only things people care about. Unlike her brethren, she refuses to hold the same prejudices that many other hold. Forest Trolls intimidate her (at times) but she's not so blind she cannot tell the difference between ally and foe. Physical Description: Pulling back the mop of ebony colored hair, the two round emerald colored eyes could be clearly seen. These eyes have not seen much as with the individual possessing them. She was young, and in many cases very naive. Holding only the teachings of her family, the young priestess looks out into the world beyond with hope and determination. Her skin was soft, dark slightly in color. Untouched, unscared. Her hair was short, well taken care of and dark like the midnight sky. Her eyes were the most expressive thing about her. Sometimes filled with hope, laughter, uncertainty, and occasionally anger. Slithering by her side was her faithful companion, a crimson colored snake. From time to time, the woman might be seen talking to it as if the being understood her words. It was seen by her foot, or occasionally coiled around on of her arms. History: Cleota's history is a secret she keeps entirely to herself, and has only shared with two other people. Her father was a once prosperous man that owned an orchard just outside Eversong, who loved her mother very well. The two desired a child to complete their happy family, but such things did not come easy for a race that with an undeniable addiction to magic. In time, the pair moved their dreams aside to focus more on their orchard along with keeping themselves both safe. The forest trolls of Zul'Aman hated the Elves for being in their territory and it was often the many smaller farms, orchards, and homes that fell victim to surprise ambushes by forest trolls. Cleota's parents were just one of the many unfortunate victims who suffered. Twice the family had to start all over from the ground up, but they never gave up. This became costly, as the second time they had to start over used up what remaining inheritance he had left over. Her uncle, a successful business man mocked his brother's foolishness for trying to make his dream work. The two had two complete ideas of success in mind; her father's was to live a happy, peaceful life out in his orchard with his wife whereas her uncle was more into the idea of crushing his opponents to gain power and rake in the profit from their losses. Not too long after the Orchard was restored a second time, Cleota's mother found out she was pregnant with child. Her father and mother were overjoyed that at long last their prayers had been answered. This pregnancy proved to be risky as High Elves were still heavily addicted to arcane magic. Cleota's mother fell ill several times while pregnant, resulting in her father having to mortgage his farm, his orchard, and everything else he could until he had no choice but to seek help from his brother. Taking pity on his brother, he agreed to help. Family was family, no matter how naive one might appear in the eyes of another. But his help came with a price. Cleota's father signed away his rights, willing to do whatever it took to see that his wife and his unborn child were safe and treated by the best priests in Silvermoon. Eventually, Cleota's mother gave birth to a happy, healthy baby girl which they named Cleota. The pair cared little for what they had to give up in order to see that the family was once whole and happy. His brother showed further pity by allowing the pair to return home -- there was no need for him to collect his debt, yet. Years passed and Cleota continued to grow. She had little idea that the orchard and farm that she grew up on was no longer her fathers, but her uncle's. And that any and all profit made was not theirs. Her uncle did allow them to keep some of it -- how could he allow his precious niece to grow up in poverty? She also was blind to the reason why She, her mother, and father took monthly trips into town to visit her uncle's estate was actually her parents paying her uncle their monthly installments. This was all kept a secret from her -- for all she knew, they were just visiting. Cleota was introduced to her Uncle's son, Vorithan. He was the spitting image of his father and several years older than she. Vorithan loved his little niece, seeing her as darling younger sister he desired to have, but Cleota was frightened of him. She often hid away from him or stayed by her mother's side to avoid him. She could never explain why Vorithan frightened her, but he did. In time, she would understand why. Vorithan, though still an adolescent, showed the same business ruthlessness that his father had, but with a much more crueler tone. It wasn't uncommon for Vorithan to resort to violence to get what he felt was owed to him. He was cruel to those that betrayed him, and even crueler to those that he simply did not like. Her uncle held a blind eye to all of this, even with Vorithan's friends returned home with bruises and broken limbs. Cleota continued to live on with her mother and father. For once, everything seemed to be going peaceful and without flaw. This was not to be. News that the Scourge March spread like wildfire throughout the lands. Fearing for their safety, Cleota and her parents fled to Silvermoon to hide in hopes of escaping certain death. They escaped one tragity only to have several forced onto them. Their home, much like many others had been devastated and burned to the ground. All that Cleota's family had worked so hard for was gone and their was no chance of ever restoring it back. The land had been ravaged by the Scourge Armies and what wasn't tainted was burnt to the ground. Cleota's family had nothing to return to. Everything was gone. Cleota's uncle, grief-stricken by the loss of his beloved wife, and most of his own business (despite knowing he could easily repair the damage) took his vengeance out on his brother's family, whom he perceived was mocking him. They lost everything, but still had their happy little family. He had it all, but lost his beloved wife, mother to his only son. He demanded that they pay him the entire debt they owed him immediately in full. This included the mortgages he paid off on their orchard, farm, home, and every cent he spent seeing to that her mother was taken care of during her pregnancy. There was absolutely no way they could pay a single copper -- everything was gone. Cleota's uncle pointed out the fine print in the contract the pair of them signed; if they were unable to pay off their debt at the time of collection, as part of their contract, they would become servants to his estate. Their wadges would be what would pay off their debt -- unless of course, by some miracle, they could pay off the debt in full, somehow. While the contract did not include Cleota herself, when the both of them passed on, She and whatever family she had would take their place, and so on until the debt was paid off. Everything that both parents had worked so hard to hide from her was revealed out into the open. Cleota couldn't believe it and refused to accept it. She vowed that she would find a way somehow to pay off their debt and free them from their forced imprisonment. For now, every copper, every silver, every gold piece she comes contact is being saved towards their debt. She saves only as much as she needs and puts the rest aside. She's already put away a large amount, but knows there is much more to be saved. In time though, their debt will be paid, and once more, the three will be a happy family. Additional Tidbits: Cleota's Familiar is Rubeus. She found the crimson colored snake by accident while digging through the remains of her parent's old home. She found the snake curled up under a turned over barrel. After freeing him, she was surprised to see that the snake willingly followed her around and grew attached to her. She adopted her new reptilian friend and made the snake her very own familiar. Rubeus (she named him) is -always- with her. Even if the snake isn't present, it's hidden away somewhere. The character Cleota, is heavily inspired and influenced by the character Danielle de Barbarac from the movie "Ever After". Danielle's views on royalty and aristocratic society was just the thing I wanted to roleplay when it came to being Blood Elf. Cleota is, luckily, her own creation and not a carbon copy of Danielle! ;) Character Arwork: By Myself: http://tinyurl.com/33q9c94 http://tinyurl.com/3yv63pt By others: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4028555/
