Well, Forbidden Ops is the name of the cheesy romance novel series Tali and Joker are obsessed with in Opus. I'll be honest. I have no idea where I was going with this. XD

2. What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?

That the Butcher of Torfan has on occasion been known to laugh so hard at his own fucking puns he cries.

3. What is your OC's fatal flaw? Are they aware of this flaw?

I talked about how fucking stubborn he is here, but hand in hand with that is what a bulldozer he is. He will go through anyone, including the people he loves, who get in his way. Especially if they are trying to help him or save him from himself. One of the reasons Kaidan is so good for him is that he’s one of the few people who can actually stand in his way and not give any ground when Sam refuses to swerve. One of my favorite lines in Fugue is this one:

On the ‘Yang, Alenko had always been so quiet and unassuming and kind it was easy to overlook what he really was: a mountain with roots so deep that even the raging gale that had been Sam Shepard broke upon the rocks.

I am really looking forward to exploring what happens to Sam when Kaidan isn’t there to take that blow in Mezzo. Because no one else on the SR-2 has ever had to do it, and they’re about to learn how hard it is.

24. What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?

Ha, this question is what spawned the idea for Cadenza, the maybe/eventual multiverse story I poke at occasionally in which Sam Shepard either did not join or did not stay with the Alliance.

But the Alliance is so inevitable for him, to the point he tells Kara Pendergrass in Cantata, “All roads lead to the Alliance for me,” that the only one way I could fathom this happening is that Sam’s parents stayed together, and his mother was present during his childhood. Not the perfect mother, but someone who tried. Take away the primary seismic forces that created Commander Shepard and you’re left with just Sam.

Who is that? Well, so far, he’s a scientist who followed his love of the stars into a career studying the relays for ExoGeni. And because his restless, impatient, kinetic self still needs an energy sink no matter what choices he made in life, he accidentally winds up starting a Leverage-style gang that operates on the Citadel. :D

2. What is your favorite mod(s) you have made? Oooooo, this one's a lil tough cause it varies by game, and I can't pick an overall favorite child lol. I'd say my top two are Solas Consistency Project for Veilguard, and the New Armors for Maleshep series. Solas Consistency Project because I hate the way he looks smoothed out and chiseled in VG, and it's SO nice having his Inquisition textures back. Also because it was incredibly finicky texture work with truly insane amounts of layers. The end result is so good though, and I'm really proud of it.

The New Armors series is because I love playing dress up with my male Sheps, and it was one of my first big project under takings.

7. Favorite toolset you've worked with? Mass Effect Legendary Edition's ME3Tweaks, by a landslide. There's a truly insane amount of end user features and things that make it really easy to use, and for being unofficial and fan built, the modding possibilities with it are incredible.

11. What is your dream mod? Surprising probably no one who has sent me Mass Effect asks in the past, a mod to romance Wrex in Mass Effect 1, and then mods for 2 and 3 that carry that romance forward.

7. Does their love interest move into their quarters?

It's a gradual process lol. In John's case it starts out with him spending more and more time in the observation lounge Kaidan's in, until it becomes Kaidan spending more and more time in John's quarters. The observation lounge is a public space, so it was a safer choice for a while, until John explicitly told Kaidan that he was allowed to come to the cabin any time. Everyone else still needs appointments to stop by his cabin, so it's a big deal that Kaidan had open permission LOL

For Jane's case, Garrus gets on the Normandy and Jane is immediately like "You can move into my cabin". Except as the war goes on, the amount of time spent there gradually decreases. Garrus doesn't really question it at first, but he does eventually clock that something's wrong. Unfortunately by the time he brings it up, it's too late jfdklasjkfd

14. Any good at flirting?

Markus is the one who actually flirts on purpose. Jane does it by accident when she tries to make a joke. John doesn't really flirt tbh. Whether or not he's casual or shy with his banter (or whether he actually banters at all) depends on who he's talking to

Markus thinks that he's pretty good with the whole flirting thing. The only thing he's bad at is being flirted at

18. Who’s the dream team? Which companions does Shepard fight best with and why?

John's dream team is Kaidan and Garrus for the reason that it is probably one of the most balanced teams for gameplay. Vanguard + Sentinel + Infiltrator

Jane's usual team is Garrus and Tali, but it's not a very balanced one. For one thing, there aren't even any Biotics LMAO. I think since Jane is a Soldier class, the balanced team would be a Soldier + Adept + Engineer type, so it'd be Liara and Tali. That being said I think Jane's dream team is her, Garrus, and Ashley. It's three snipers. Nothing will come even close to them

I never really thought of this for Markus, but I think it would be Kaidan and Ashley. I can't think of a reason other than: the besties
