Clevertree Brings Weed Delivery App to Sacramento
Clevertree Mobile App Offers Speedy, On-Demand Delivery of Medical Marijuana to Patients in Sacramento
January 6, 2015 SACRAMENTO, CA – On Tuesday, Clevertree (www.clevertree.co) announced a new mobile app that allows medical marijuana patients in Sacramento to quickly and easily order medical marijuana from the convenience of their smartphones. Clevertree is currently taking beta signups on their website in preparation for their launch later this month.
Patients will be able to register with Clevertree for free on any mobile device, which will then verify their status as an authorized California medical marijuana patient. Once verified and approved, a patient can then select and order medicine from Clevertree’s certified dispensary partners in Sacramento and will be able to track their delivery’s ETA.
“Marijuana is an industry which is gaining greater and greater acceptance in the United States,” said Stephen Foung, founder of Clevertree. “Although this is a rapidly growing market, it has largely been untouched by technology, due to its ambiguous legal status. There are tons of opportunities to create a safer, easier, and more efficient process for patients to get access to their medicine with an elevated and more consistent service level.”
Foung, a Northern California native, conceived and began developing the mobile app during his final semesters of business school at Babson College (The nation’s #1 ranked school in Entrepreneurship) in Boston, MA. He is joined by co-founder Pedro Rivas who also has a background in business as a CPA in the city of Sacramento.
The state of California legalized medical marijuana in 1996. The medicine is often used to treat epilepsy, cancer, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain and other serious illnesses that may not respond to traditional medications. New strains of marijuana have been developed to increase healing qualities while decreasing high-inducing effects. Multiple forms of marijuana now exist for non-smokers and even children.
Clevertree’s announcement comes mere weeks after Congress voted to end the federal government's ban on medical marijuana, which previously saw DEA raids on marijuana dispensaries that were legal by state law. In terms of legality, Foung stresses that they are a technology company that provides a platform for dispensaries whom already offer delivery services as a means to augment their service and operations.
“We are no different from a phone company such as AT&T or Verizon, who are merely serving as a channel for dispensaries to connect with their patients. However, we are a big step up from dialing up a dispensary on the telephone, as we provide data, streamlined routing of drivers, and added safety through the entire fulfillment process through GPS tracking. What we bring to the table only adds to the safety, welfare, and accountability of Sacramento’s medical marijuana industry. It never subtracts,” said Foung.
Clevertree (www.clevertree.co) is a mobile technology platform that enables dispensaries to offer on-demand delivery of medical marijuana to their patients in a manner that is safe, easy, and efficient. Founded in 2014 by Stephen Foung, a Philosophy Graduate from California State University, Sacramento and MBA from Babson College, and Pedro Rivas, a Finance/Accounting graduate from California State University, Chico and CPA. Clevertree seeks to move the marijuana industry forward into the next generation.
