Captcha and its Importance
What Purpose does CAPTCHA Exactly Serve?
CAPTCHA is mainly used to prevent the automated computer software (bots) from performing any actions on the behalf of humans.
For example, when you try to fill a subscription form or sign up for a new account on Facebook, then you will come across a form in the end that cannot be filled by a Computer Bot, because it will change every time you fill the form. The main aim of using CAPTCHA is to put forth a question which is simple and straight forward for any human to answer but for a computer, it is almost impossible to solve.
How it works?
Captcha works as a gateway between the user and the information that the user wishes to access, by requiring a specific unpredictable action by the user. This makes it impossible for bots to programmatically gain access without direct human interaction.
At first, the program code generate a random code (can be a mix of numeric and characters). The users then fill the shown CAPTCHA in the given box and submit the form. It the CAPTCHA matches then you can proceed to next steps. And if the CAPTCHA doesn’t match, you’ll have to try again.
Why are there so many CAPTCHA’s?
People think that the computer and internet world would be a much easier place without CAPTCHAs because they create hindrance in their regular activities and there are a lot of captchas.
The reason that there are so many CAPTCHAs is that there is so much spam in the world. And anyone can easily interpret to be someone else. Therefore CAPTCHA’s are used to prevent robots with more criminal intent from logging into online bank accounts and the like.
Types of CAPTCHA’s
1. The Standard Distorted Word CAPTCHA with an Audio Option
2. Picture Identification Captcha
3. Math Solving Captcha
4. 3D Captcha
5. Ad-Injected CAPTCHA
One should never take CAPTCHA’s as wastage of time as they can save you from computer bots that can misuse your personal information to create an account or fill a subscription form.
