Hearst Corporation is one of the nation's largest diversified media companies. Its major interests include magazine, newspaper and business publishing, cable networks, television and radio broadcasting, internet businesses, TV production and distribution, newspaper features distribution and real estate. Hearst Newspapers has launched over 300 blogs and other localized and community-based web properties, and was seeking a suitable scalable publishing platform.

Social2B was engaged to assist in the selection of the platform to integrate content, rich media and social media elements in one centrally managed content management infrastructure. Clients Goals and Objectives, Challenge More and more Wholesalers in the apparel sector are moving into the Retail space. However, that move is not always an easy one, or an apparent one. Compounded by the fact that more consumers are spending time online, and are 'social', Retailers must adapt to the ever-changing world of 'social commerce' and 'social buying'. Collection B, a Retail line from Bernardo, one of the leading retail and wholesale brands, has taken on the challenge of embracing the social audience and converting from wholesale to online and social retail player. The goal was to build the community around a brand by integrating content, eCommerce, consumer preferences via user generated content, inclusive of music, voting, sweepstakes, and other consumer oriented behavioral elements. Business/Marketing Strategy and Implementation Collection B strongly believes in the power of word-of-mouth (WOM) marketing and hence commissioned Social2B to build and deploy an integrated social media marketing platform, consisting of an interactive website based on the Magento social commerce engine, a blog, and a number of integrated social media marketing profiles on Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others. Additionally, Social2B has implemented an integrated EDI functionality to connect Collection B 'social commerce architecture' to the back-end inventory and warehouse system, providing dynamic updates on inventory, product positions, and other elements. Platform and Technologies Selected An integrated web architecture based on the Magento Social Commerce platform connected with major social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and others. A number of social elements, inclusive of music downloads, voting, video reviews, and other consumer engagement components. Outcome, Performance and Next Steps The American consumer has accepted the 'Social Commerce' concept and has voted positively for the new Social Retail approach, allowing companies like Collection B to thrive and be more successful. The social media marketing strategy has given Collection B a unique advantage in targeting the US consumer and allowing it to express its opinion, leaving comments on Collection B blog, reaching a Twitter following quickly, and sharing ideas and sentiment on Facebook.

To effectively reach multi-cultural audiences and affect ticket sales for performances of Global and Ethnic performers.
The Challenge: Many of the ethnic target audiences do not have dedicated traditional media such as newspapers, radio or TV and therefore cannot be reached through traditional marketing tactics.
Business/Marketing Strategy and Implementation
Created and implemented an integrated strategy of guerilla word-of-mouth marketing and social media. We developed in-language content and engaged members of target audience to help us develop relationships and authentically spread the word through personal and social networks.
Platforms Methodology and Approach
We sought out community enclaves, stakeholders and social communities for each unique target audience and engaged them in a dialog. We’ve organized special on and off-line events, distributed collateral, promoted exclusive ticket deals to on- and off-line communities and groups, and leveraged in-language creative and multi-media content across social platforms.

Generated buzz and significantly affected ticket sales for ethnic events. Helped State Theatre develop new audiences and impact overall and repeat sales. Developed and strengthen State Theatre’s brand among target audiences. Developed unique integrated marketing methodology for ethnic and psychographic audiences.
Genesis Philanthropy Group
Clients Goals and Objectives, Challenges
To serve as the change catalyst to foster and strengthen Jewish identity among Russian-speakers worldwide. Northern American strategy: funding of cultural, educational, scholarship, and camp programs for school and college-aged children such as Brandeis University’s BGI Institute for Russian Jewry, BIMA/Genesis Summer College program, Camp Havurah, and many others.
The Challenge: engaging the beneficiaries of these programs required reaching cross-generational target audiences through different communications channels and vehicles and a high degree of integration across traditional and social media.
Business/Marketing Strategy and Implementation
Created an integrated communications strategy that addressed the cross-generational and cross-language difference of the target audiences utilizing traditional and social media in Russian and English. Developed a message style/channel/vehicle matrix that reached and appealed to different generations. Implemented the strategy across 50+ traditional ethnic media outlets and nearly 300 digital channels in Northern America.

We sought out social networks and micro-communities for each unique target audience such as Russian-speaking teenagers or English-speaking Russian-Jewish college students and engaged members of those audiences to create and publish content on our behalf, effectively and authentically reaching hundreds of thousands Russian-speakers across North America.

Created awareness and great deal of interest in GPG programs among target audiences through traditional and social media. Generated a flood of inquiries from prospective clients and guardians. Increased enrollment in programs. Developed customized integrated communications strategies for GPG grantees.
