A clean, crisp industrial clock from the 1960s by the leading French electric clock manufacturer ATO, founded by a Monsieur Hatot back in the 1920s. We have retained the original hands and made them fit a modern quartz mechanism to ensure perfect timing using a AA battery. One of my favourite clocks - I've only had one of this kind in the last 10 years. It was made in 1962 by Lepaute, a famous French clock maker whose designs were anything but utalitarian. He paid attention to the visual effect of the dial as you can see from the most unusual hands and the original way to present the numbers with small coloured dots. We have never come across this clock before, but the maker ATO were pioneers in electric clocks. The founder, Monsieur Hato, had a reputation for making the most unusual cases for his electric movements. This clock is no exception. It is clearly Art Deco and the numerals on the silvered dial are his own creation. A quality clock made by Pontiac, a famous watch brand from Switzerland. The chrome casing is in very good order for a clock that is more than 50 years old. Now converted from electric to quartz.
