There was something familiar about the mutant. His mind was erratic and frayed, but familiar all the same. Yet Charles Xavier was certain he had never seen the young man before in his life. “Pardon me,” he said, frowning a bit, “But you look... like someone I used to know.”

David tried to keep his mind as clear as possible while Zoe was sleeping. He also tried to stay awake knowing she tended to feel him projecting when the nightmares started up. He brushed his fingers through her hair trying not to wake her up. He thought about picking her up and carrying her to bed, but he didn’t want to risk waking her either.

The fingers that ran through her hair made her almost melt in his embrace, finding herself in such a relaxing sleep when all of the sudden, a loud noise from the television woke her up with a small jump. “Shit, that was the best part...” She slurred out sleepily, rubbing her eyes and giving a yawn. “Oh, hey.” She murmured, sitting up to look at him with a weary grin.

Long day, deep fatigue. That was the only explanation that Zoe could offer to falling asleep during her favorite movie.
