I unfortunately don't have any specific questions about them but reading about Aims and Mare while listening to Two Coffins by Against Me! made me sob and i just wanted you to know that. Also if you habe anything you want to say abotu them id love to here it.
oh my god... im gonna cry 😭
this song is so perfect for them 🥺 thank you!!! holy shit! let me tell you about Aims and Mare. they're so special to me! I have to give all the credit to @arktrooper for writing that heartwrenching, beautiful ending for them.
The sniper, CT-3286, “Aims,” and Sergeant CT-3285, “Mare,” are batchmates; twins, really, a number apart, shadows of one another.
Aims has powerful eyesight but weak hearing; he struggled in training and got by by the skin of his teeth, always helped by his oldest sister and much braver confidant, Mare. Aims was a stickler for the rules. He took his role as a soldier very seriously, seeing as he grew up afraid he might not get to be one. His performance on the field itself was actually quite impressive, once their medic, Steady, got him a proper cochlear implant. Aims is clever, insightful, and a bit hard-headed. He's staunch in his beliefs and unwavering in his commitment to the GAR. He doesn't even care that his General is cruel, cold; he has his sister, and he has his duty. He performs that duty until the very bitter end, when the war breaks him.
Mare, his older sister by three minutes, is a warm, likeable person. She is empathetic, funny, and flexible in her morals and beliefs. She's a gambler, loves risk, and has always been deeply competitive; however, she never turned that sense of competition against her little brother, who she protected until the very end. Mare has gambled Hondo Ohnaka himself under the table and is a real crack shot. She's always admired her Commander, Jawbreaker, and the ease with which they take on each obstacle in life. Mare was determined to survive the war. She wanted a life beyond it. She wanted to enjoy what years she had left in health and go on adventures, enjoy her life, and take her brother away from the war she felt was killing him. In the end, she bent over backwards to endure the war, trying to be flexible, to persevere. In the end, she bent and bent until she couldn't go anymore.
They were both wounded on the field. She and Aims died en route to Coruscant, holding hands all the way.
When they were little and Aims was afraid, Mare used to sing a song to him. On the way to Coruscant, Aims sang it to her until he couldn't anymore.
