The Captions Are Fixed!

GOOD NEWS! Sarah-Kate Fenelon has worked very hard (thank you Sarah-Kate) and the Amazon engines have rolled, and if you watch Good Omens S2 with the closed captions on you should be in for a pleasant surprise.

If you've seen it before with closed captions, I'd watch it again.

(I just watched 10 minutes from episode 5, and every line was on the money.)

What's Crowley's name in the minisode concerning Job and his family?

I recall that during the flood he has Crawley and he informed Aziraphale that he changed his name in 33 AD. However, the captions suggest that Aziraphale referred to him as Crowley when they met at Job's. You mentioned that the subtitles should have been corrected already, thus my question.

They should definitely read Crawley...

Amazon insists Crowley calls Aziraphale "Lady Brackney" in the pub scene, but I googled around and think he actually made a Lady Bracknell reference, cause Britannica says "[she] is the embodiment of conventional upper-class Victorian respectability". Would you confirm that?

Yes. That's the only line in the show that David improvised, too. I believe every take he'd order a sherry for Aziraphale with a different request (in the script I thought he'd be too far away to hear so I hadn't written a line). I love that he calls Aziraphale "Lady Bracknell" for all sorts of reasons.

in the scene where the zombies hear that man singing, greta is saying “i suppose that’s dinner” right ? 😭😭 because the subtitles said something about oxygen and i had to rewind

Oh dear god. I think the exact line is "Well... I suppose that's dinner".

in the conversation between shax and aziraphale, does she say that she heard the rumor abt him crowley “80, 90 years ago” or “18, 19 years ago”? i assumed it was the former but the captions say the latter. thanks if you see or answer this, also my stepdad met you at a party in seattle a few decades ago and said you were cool 👍

80 or 90. The captions are currently not to be relied on.

i have another question because prime subtitles say one thing and all the people quoting it say something else, so: when nina is asking crowley about his relationship with aziraphale, does crowley say “i’m too pure of heart to be anybody’s bit on the side” or “he’s too pure of heart…”?

He says "He's too pure." The subtitles have it wrong.

Good evening, Mr. Gaiman, thank you most sincerely for all the wonderful things you've written into the world, and apologies to be adding to the surely never-ending avalanche of Good Omens asks in your inbox. I only have one small question about the Resurrectionist minisode, and Elspeth: wee Morag once uses her full name, and the (incredibly unreliable, a curse on Amazon Prime) subtitles give it as Elspeth McInnes. However, what she's actually saying doesn't sound entirely like that, and with all the other inaccuracies in the subtitles, I've been wondering. The credits only list her as Elspeth, so I was hoping that you might be able to help out...? All the best, and thank you again.

She's a Mackinnon, and it will be corrected in the new closed captions.
