So you’ve never watched Bridgerton, but you want to watch S5 for the sapphic love story…
Or: So you wanna watch these two dorks fall in love… and stuff…
Or: The Very Unofficial WLW Bridgerton Watch Guide (according to CCF)
(Updated: 4/3/26 5PM EST)
Welcome, prospective gentlereaders/gentleviewers!
You have probably seen a lot of Franchaela on your dash/social media lately. If you are interested in watching Franchaela’s season, but not so interested that you are willing to watch four seasons of Bridgerton and a season of Queen Charlotte, you’ve come to the right place.
But first! See useful links below:
//
[CONTENT WARNINGS]
Bridgerton List of Deaths - Full list of deaths, Seasons 1-4, human and animal, with notes of “mentioned” or “shown” - e.g. Queen Charlotte wears a whale bone corset which is discussed and therefore on the list
Queen Charlotte List of Deaths
Bridgerton without the Spice - courtesy of u/oOohalloweenqueenoOo on Reddit - This lists all time stamps of the spicy scenes, Seasons 1-3
I will include specific episode warnings in the first viewing option below.
[Please excuse the pending time stamps—I’m doing this on lunch break.]
PLEASE NOTE: These links and my own content warnings are not comprehensive, especially since it has been a minute since I watched anything prior to season 3. If there is something specific you would like to avoid or is an absolute no, I recommend you give it a quick search and review the episode synopsis.
If you can’t find answers or are avoiding spoilers, you are welcome to ask me. I might be slow to respond, but I also recommend asking on the Franchaela Reddit or here in the Franchaela tag.
I’m a firm believer that everyone deserves a good plot twist and the thrill of the unknown without worry, so being aware of triggers should not mean you are obligated to be spoiled about everything while seeking information to avoid or be aware of specific content.

[RECOMMENDED VIEWING]
OPTION A: “I’m a TV show marathoner and get through shows quickly…”
Or: “I’m a gremlin like CCF and can burn through a 8 episode season no problem!”
I recommend this option (i.e. watching everything) for completionists and folks who like to know the whole vibe before writing fanfiction (I am folks 😭 it’s a curse). This obviously provides the most thorough look at the world of Bridgerton, including the logistics of The Ton, the standards of society, and all involved characters. There are also a lot of man-butts, so… sorry about that.
Recommended Watch Order: Season 1-2, Queen Charlotte, Season 3-4
If you choose this option, please note:
CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNINGS:
Season 1, Episode 6 (~48:00-50:00) - Sexual assault - Info with context/relation to the book here: Vanity Fair
Season 2, Episode 1? (Time stamp pending) - Major Character Death - The character’s death is known beforehand, but the death is shown via flashback (allergic reaction to a bee sting)
Season 4, Episode 6 (Time stamp pending) - Major Character Death - Most people will already know about this, but worth noting to anyone who may be dealing with a loss.
Season 4, Episode 7 (Time stamp pending) - Invasive Sexist Medical Exam/Possible Miscarriage - I did not think it was the latter, but the actor has said “lost the baby” so it is not exactly clear.
[I will be adding more here and time stamps but if you have any not listed in the links or here, please let me know!]
OPTION B: “I am NOT watching 40 hours of heterosexuality and man-butts!” (Totally valid.)
This option is recommended for the sapphics and Victor Allies without much time but want to know more about the series. This will help so you don’t have many questions about logistics (e.g. the marriage mart, unmarried women and chaperones, etc.) when you start watching Franchaela’s season
SEASON ONE: Daphne & Simon - Fake Relationship
The introduction to the series. You meet most of the main characters, as well as the primary conflicts and relationships within the Bridgerton world: Lady Whistledown, the Bridgertons, the Featheringtons, the Queen and Lady Danbury, Mayfair/London, Regency norms, debuts, society/The Ton, the marriage mart, rakes, mistresses, clubs, etc. Also you see just how hot this cast is, to be honest.
RECAP (~25 min) - Violet Remembers on Youtube
SEASON TWO: Anthony & Kate - Enemies to Lovers
This season’s focus on Anthony shows how he came to be a Viscount after his father’s death (as mentioned above, but noted here again: They do show his death in a flashback). Anthony has entered the season with a pragmatic approach, deciding to marry out of obligation to his family and position as Viscount (Sound familiar? It will…). He sets his sights on the Diamond of the season, but he has to get through her strong-willed, protective sister. You also get to enjoy Eloise’s debut and her subplot.
For transparency: This season was the reason I started watching Bridgerton. The yearning is there. It’s hetero, but as a romantic, I still loved it. I also love how similar Anthony and Francesca (Hannah Dodd) are as siblings, but bear in mind that was a recast, so she is not in this season. However, Simone and Charithra are fantastic and absolutely gorgeous.

[WATCH] SEASON THREE: Colin & Penelope - Friends to Lovers
This season covers a lot of ground with Colin realizing his feelings for his friend and more about Lady Whistledown and the consequences of her writing.
I recommend watching this season because this is also the season Francesca (Hannah Dodd’s first season) has her debut. Here she meets John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin… Then his cousin Michaela Stirling at the end of the season.
[WATCH] SEASON FOUR: Benedict & Sophie - Love at First Sight (Cinderella)
This season delves more into the lives of servants—maids, footman, etc. A really nice introduction to several other minor and supporting characters, as well as the lead, Sophie (Yerin Ha).
I recommend watching this season since Francesca returns to London from Kilmartin with John. Throughout the first half of the season, their subplot centers Francesca’s concern that she is not yet with child and their marriage.
[COMING SOON] OPTION C: “I just need the bare minimum so I can watch the wlw!” (Also valid.)
(Updated: 4/21/26) I figured this would be a better way of linking to things people might be looking for as well as an intro/FYI.
(Let me know if any of the links are bad or if Tumblr app/desktop does something weird with this RIP!)

"I know I am the source, but if there is anything I can do to ease the distress I have cause—"A brief, bitter laugh escapes Francesca, but it loses momentum halfway through and turns into a halted sob. "You could have stayed like you said you would."
Or: Michaela has been gone for 3 years and returns to Mayfair, but her first stop is Bridgerton House.
