Closing Kmart.
We will be lucky to be open for one more year. Theft is pretty high at my store. I was working from 32 to 40 hrs a week. Now its only 28 hours and from what i heard its going to stay that way for awhile. Its sucks because i been working at that kmart for about 4 years and i enjoy working there.
Time for work!
Send me asks n messages n stuff. I love talking to people on my break. I get two breaks and a lunch today, I'll be closing the store which hasn't happened in awhile so it'll be late when i get home. <3 you all!
And people wonder why retail personnel are so grumpy..
How to not get a return:
- Calling the employees idiots. You should know we have more pull with our managers than you might think.
- Arguing with the manager. Just a bad idea in general.
- Lying about the date you bought it, where you bough it, etc. A lot of people try to return things and lie about the date or the store it is from. An example is this, we use special pricing stickers over the regular barcode, a normal customer won't know this but that sticker tells us the date we got the item, the store it is from and if it is or isn't returnable.
- Yelling or raising your voice. This makes you look like a moron, it makes the employee look like a saint for dealing with you and everyone else is line laughs at you when you leave. Plus this takes us back to rule 1.
How to get a return:
- Calmly explain the situation, if you didn't make it back before the time frame for returns explain why. If its more that 1 month past the date - don't bother trying to return it. If you lost the receipt, accept store credit.
- If the employee says no, and you feel you've been reasonable - ask for a manager.
- Be willing to compromise for an exchange instead.

Now I work in a store going through liquidation - which means all sales are final no matter what - even if the item has a factory defect, I get to mark out the bar codes on your item or you don't get them - period, no coupons, all prices are as marked and not a penny less - even if it is damaged.
It also means that we're all losing our jobs, we're stressed beyond belief and are on the edge of snapping, be kind to us and we're dealing with enough already. Understand when you're shopping closing store sales that we have no fear of being fired so the tactic of yelling to get your way or threatening to take the problem higher up will never ever work.
So pretty much today was silly, we're in the final week and the requests keep getting crazier and crazier and we're getting more and more stressed. Several of us are on the verge of snapping, saying fuck you and walking out. It's gotten silly.
