I'll rant some more about all the exciting things happening in some other post but right now, I'll tell you about how I helped to rescue a library!📚 So a few days ago, a town near mine had been completely flooded and it was so so so extremely scary😭. The people there suffered a lot and the whole town turned upside down😖. A lot of people immediately offered help and the town is in better condition now that the water is gone. Our school sent about 30 of us students to go and help set their town library back in order. Their library was so rich in literature, with 50,000 books😱! But due to the flood, thousands of books were ruined😭. Our job, was to go through these ruined books and register them in a list so the librarians could at least try to get them back. But a lot of them were so so old that their copies aren't printed or sold anymore and couldn't possibly be restored😟. The ruined books were completely destroyed and most of them even had fungi growing on them😣. It was a pain to see books in such a bad condition.🤐 It's a huge loss to the town because when the town's books are taken away, a whole generation in the town is affected because books are what shape us.😔 We worked with them for 2 days and it was such an amazing experience to see and help out a post-flood town going back to its normality😯. I hope such great losses can be avoided in the future and I pray for all the libraries in this world, they need to be treasured🙏 Swipe for a few pictures!📷 ------------------ In the above picture I've stacked a pile of my favourite ya contemporaries!❤️ I'm a huge fan of ya contemporaries but a lot of them don't usually stand out to me- all of them seem the same after one point😅! Two nights ago I read a story from my childhood – Peter Churchmouse – to our family. My husband remembered the book and even knew one of Peter’s poems by heart: . Drink, drink, drink, To make me bigger, But all I do Is lose my figure. Fuss, fuss, fuss! . Then last night one of our very youngest (two years old less than a month ago) recited the verse back to me word for word. .
