Hello everyone and hope you’ve all had a great day - it’s Boxing Day here in the UK 🇬🇧 and it’s been lovely seeing family and eating waaaaay too much 😋 I got some wonderful books for Christmas too which I’ll share with you probably sometime next year the way these hauls are going!! These are three beautiful new classics to add to my Penguin clothbound classics collection. The two Charles Dickens were sent to me as a wonderful bookish surprise from my bookstagram friend @readingpenguin14 when I was feeling low recently. I’ve already thanked him but wanted to say again how much I appreciated it. Bleak House is described as a savage but often comic indictment of a society that is often rotten to the core and is one of Dickens’ most ambitious novels, with a range that extends from the drawing rooms of the aristocracy to the poorest of London slums. David Copperfield is a story of a young man’s adventures on his journey from an unhappy and impoverished childhood to the discovery of his vocation as a successful novelist. In the novel he described as his “favourite child,” Dickens drew revealingly on his own experiences to create one of the most exuberant and enduringly popular works, filled with tragedy and comedy in equal measure. Finally we have The Count Of Monte Cristo, a novel I’ve been reading for the first time for a while now and I am absolutely obsessed with it. I’m on track to finish it by the end of the year and it’s one of my favourite books ever. 😍 I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Are you a fan of the classics? Let’s have a chat in the comments and have a lovely week everyone! 🤗😘 #bookstagramuk #scottishbookstagrammer #penguinclothboundclassics #clothboundclassicscollection #classicbookslover #bleakhouse #davidcopperfield #charlesdickensbooks #thecountofmontecristo #alexandredumas #booksnewtome #prettybooksofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CmpFct9L9ta/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
