Easy Sewing Hack for Button-Downs
So about a month ago I thrifted a pretty nice short-sleeved button-down shirt for a reasonable price, and I liked the colour and it fit me and I had been needing some short-sleeved buttoned shirt. The only problem? I hate button-down shirts. I hate the look personally, I think they look childish and frumpy, etc. So I had to do something to transform this shirt.
I played around a little bit with the collar. I like an open-collar look, the only issue of course is getting the collar to stay that way.
But here's where the advantage comes in. Button-down shirts already have buttonholes in the collar. All I had to do was put new buttons at the positions I wanted. So I did. I marked the point with a dot with a pen and a pin for good measure, and then I rummaged through my spare buttons to find buttons that fit the size of the buttonhole and were inoffensive in colour.
I sewed the buttons on to their positions, and then I was done, and had a shirt with a nice open collar that laid flat!
I highly recommend trying this out if you have any button-down shirts.
Oh oh before I turn my light off I wanna show you guys the thing that put that hole in my hand
Okay, so, I really wanted to try and level up my gear game a tiny bit, but wasn't sure where to start. The idea of incorporating chains into my wardrobe both as a general style choice and as a little species affirmation boost has been appealing to me for a while, so I thought about getting a lead. Only problem was 1. Who's gonna walk me, and 2. Why the fuck would I let them? That's not really how I roll on most occasions, unless youre a lucky lovely son of a bitch. Then, it occurred to me:
I can walk myself.
By sewing on press studs I can snap the lead into place on my wrist, leaving my hand free while the chain hangs from my collar! I've yet to try this outside the house just yet but testing so far has yielded positive results. The only issue is the shape of the handle when buttoned being very sticky outy and a little jank looking, but I'm willing to work with it for now and if I get sick of it in future I can always just alter the handle to be short enough to stay on my wrist on its own.
Let me know what you think!
I modded a sweater for the first time!! Fabric paint is so fun but so hard to use!
Tie
Absurd studded knee pants. I reinforced the inside of the of the pants around the knees with denim cut from an old pair of jeans. Then I put the studs in and finally put more denim over the backs of the studs so I don't scrape my knees every time I put them on or take them off. Next I'm covering the pants in blank patches. Then adding a few graphic patches over the blanks.
