Clouded Judgement

Long after the carnival closed down for the night, and everyone had gone to bed, Beppi snuck out of his little house, and past the roller coaster. No, he wasn’t doing anything wrong or against the rules, but he didn’t want to accidentally wake anybody up. It was well past eleven o’clock after all.
It was a cloudy night. Which were the only days he could actually make an effort to see his cousin in the next isle. Since the could cover made it nearly impossible to see the stars, Beppi knew Hilda wouldn’t be busy, and wouldn’t mind the company. Not to mention it was a school night, meaning that it was going to be a slow day tomorrow anyway. There was no reason he shouldn’t go see her as far as Beppi could tell, and it had been a while since he’d seen his dearly loved cousin.
What Beppi hadn’t realized was that he was being followed by a curious little chick, who should have been in bed.
When Beppi made it to the observatory, Hilda was working on fixing her glowing bracelet...thingies. Whatever she was doing was far beyond Beppi. Tweaking some wires through an open panel, poking and moving tiny things with other tiny metal things...He had no clue what she was doing. Just that she was trying to tune those hootchathingies up because something wasn’t right with them. And it wasn’t something that could be fixed by putting it on her right wrist instead. “Well....have you tried turning it off and on again?”
