I’m doing so well, my dear! I have Uni classes and am working so I’m pretty busy right now but I’m good

I just had to look up who that boy was but I know him by appearance! “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” was kind of an ‘eh’ film for me but he was an adorable puppy in it! I think he’s nice in interviews but I don’t pay as much attention to him as I should

Should I be paying more attention to him?

yeah it was because of that lol! And yeah in terms of ridiculous reprensentation of Italy Dolce&Gabbana have also outdone themselves with their campaigns full of pasta / skinny people eating mouthfuls of pasta / people dressed in D&G while having the time of their lives surrounded by old italian people in parmeggiano markets or whatever.. just terrible haha

I’ve... never had much liking for D&G and I think this is one of the reasons. I’m still cringing because of their recent Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke ad. I think D&G made a choice to differentiate themselves from other Italian brands by trying to convey the most cliché representation of Italy possible (southern Italy, specifically). In their campaigns they reinforce stereotypes to appeal to the foreign market, their biggest market, which most of the times only has a vague idea of Italian culture. Instead of educating possible consumers they play on clichés because it’s easier, quicker and more effective. And this marketing strategy works, apparently... to the detriment of Naples and Sicily’s real image, in my opinion.

speaking of representation (half italian person speaking here hello) this is random but I recently found out a guy from Jersey Shore (which is peak stereotypical Italian-American representation right?) had the same last name as director of CMBYN Luca Guadagnino which I thought was glorious (isn't it?)

I recently found out about him too! Wasn’t it because of something he tweeted that went viral? About Trump and global warming I think. But to be honest I didn’t make much of it lol. I only wondered why, if there’s already a Guadagnino who’s “famous” (?) in the US, people still keep butchering Luca’s surname in interviews.

I’m not really familiar with Jersey Shore, only from what I’ve seen I would never associate the word “Italian” with any part of it. I’m really sad the perception of Italy in the US sometimes is mediated by that kind of representation.

Now we know for sure the Italian industry/distributors dislike(s) Luca's cinema and ruins it as best as it can

I don’t know who made the decision, but I think it was Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia that distributes the film here. Now I really want to know if Luca had any say in it... I don’t think he had.

It’s no mystery that the Italian film industry in general has no love for Luca, but I don’t believe this was done on purpose. I fear it’s just a stupid decision dictated by marketing and industry traditions. They dub every fucking film here, and many multilingual films got the same treatment in the past. They think no one would go see a subtitled film + voice actors and adapters have a long standing tradition and need a job, you know. The problem is in the system.

I like the visuals they chose for that!!! Finally something that represents bodies in movement and active and does not advertise scented pads for periods smelling bad or bs like that. Give it a short movie award to be honest

its an incredible commercial, like i got proper chill watching it!
