they have to spawn their physical body of course it's gonna be a little dramatic (and anticlimactic since their outfit is painfully simple)
(the *other* transformation later on, should you choose it, is a lot, lot, lot more horrifying) (magical girl transformation but the sound of your skeleton rearranging and having your mask grow flesh, only for it to immediately rot off to the skull underneath) (you grow to 10 feet tall and your arms are crude clawed "wings" now congrats)

the thing with four thieves vinegar is that it's mainly applied to prevention a la miasma theory, since it's mainly composed of strong aromatics. it's applied to those handling plague victims to protect them from the unholy stank of rotting pustules and decaying bodies. it sounds like it would fit more in the very very beginning, the first thing you have to do is prep yourself using things from an aromatics garden since Keres just. doesn't really want to do it. and sort of leaves you to do it yourself.
so naturally, you'll have to treat yourself with something before she lets you go out where actual enemies are. she cares enough to where she doesnt seem like a failure for picking you, and wants you to at least survive long enough to get into Septi
so it sounds like it's more foreshadowing then than anything, since there are four corvidae (among a few more sets of four things) that you encounter. most corvidae (the actual irl birds) are prone to stealing shit though, so it works either way

four thieves vinegar is a potion/concoction designed during the plague era. origin stories are varied but my personal favorite is that four thieves came up with the recipe and were arrested as thieves, so for leniency they offered up their plague-resistant potion, since it was what they used to perform the robberies in houses the plague would be in.
