"Look I know that we're technically on different sides, but I'm trying to help." His tone was even, yet gentle. The kind of tone used when speaking with a frightened child or wounded animal, the latter of which she appeared to be.

"We're both lost and well aware that there are dangerous animals on this island. So until we find our crews we need to work together to survive." His hand still hovered over her ankle where she'd slapped it away even as his gaze locked with hers. Waiting patiently this time for her to agree to him helping her since the first time he'd assumed she was unconscious and had wanted to check her ankle before moving her to a safer location. Night was falling rapidly and even he knew when to admit that he was lost.....sort of.

It was hard leaving the Red Force behind after so many years spent on it to try and pursue something of his own. News of the Cross Guild being established as well as their agenda was something that caught his attention for more than one reason. The most obvious one was being able to work with, or at least under, three of some of the most feared men in the world, and the other was the hopeful opportunity to get some revenge of his own on the Marines for what they had done to his mother and by that extent his family as well.

Javi's voyage to Karai Bari island could have gone somewhat smoother --- he got caught in a passing storm midway through, which did somewhat damage the dinghy he traveled in, though nothing that he couldn't handle, and the thing didn't even start taking in water by the time he reached the island. And boy was it a sight to behold.

Sure, circus paraphernalia wasn't really his style, though he didn't mind it, and everybody in the heavily circus themed little town of sorts seemed like a welcoming bunch, at least when he stated his intentions of joining in on the whole Marine hunting spiel.

Eventually, he found himself in front of what he only assumed was the headquarters of the organization he wanted to join. Even if it was a huge circus tent, he couldn't help but be impressed.

Mercy felt her heart quicken a little as she realized the sun was going down. She was dressed as usual - more boyish than anything. It had been a hard day of learning from the best - helping to repair the ship while outfitting her with some new tricks. Nothing too big, she was only an apprentice, but enough to cover her with grease and sawdust.

But a quick trip out to find a nice lotion and some good smelling bath bombs had left her in the middle of a town that seemed less than friendly and more than confusing.

"Oh dear. Ah'm in deep shit right about now...." She realized she was in the middle of an intersection that branched off to many paths. Normally she'd follow the scent of the sea, but that was everywhere.

And what's more, she saw some not-so-friendly folks coming up alongside her.

"Hey bro, you wanna drop that fancy bag o' yours? I'd like it," one of them said and she gripped her tool bag harder.

"Um... no thanks?"

damn,  really?  well  that's  actually  kind  of  sad.  his  usual  smile  falters  for  a  brief  moment,  and  instead  sympathy  washes  over  him  for  the  young  woman  before  him.  satoru  knows  himself  not  to  be  particularly  nice  —  quite  the  contrary,  actually,  as  he's  often  deemed  a  nuisance  by  his  peers —  so  to  hear  that  catches  him  off  guard.  he  supposes  anyone  would  be  thankful  for  their  life  spared,  but  really?  it's  not  much  at  all. 

❝  don't  sweat  it...  emi,  right?  look,  i  had  the  power  to  step  in,  so  i  did.  you  know  it's  not  gonna  be  that  easy,  right? ❞  satoru  heaves  a  sigh  at  that.  the  higher-ups  never  make  situations  like  this  easy,  and  their  solutions  are  all  so  archaic.  it's  totally  unfair,  though!  it's  not  her  fault  some  curse  has  attatched  itself  to  her  and  poses  a  threat  to  others.  she's  a  little  too  old  to  be  a  student,  but  she's  been  placed  under  the  watchful  gaze  of  jujutsu  tech  nonetheless.

𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐒 𝐅𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐃 as she spotted the interestingly dressed character in front of her. that didn't really seem like your usual, everyday attire. actually... nevermind. there was some pretty weirdly dressed people out there, at least her outfit looked like it was on purpose. and really only the hat gave off real carnevale vibes. 

now, if cheesey novels had taught her anything growing up, it was that people that stood out like that were worth the interaction. and marina didn't like to turn down any opportunity that came her way, so she made her way over to the stranger.
