The wall was brick, Fenton could tell even though he couldn’t really see it from how close he was. His face was smashed into it and he could already feel blood leaking at his temple. 

Stronger than that though was the feeling of panic swarming through his whole body. The last time he had been slammed into a wall, despicable acts had occurred. He starts struggling immediately without even knowing who’s holding him there. Of all the days that Doctor Gearloose had to upgrade the suit. “Let go!!”

“Big brother~! Guess who’s here in Duckburg to see you~!” Of course he’d know it was his own little sister, but she didn’t care about that fact. She loved funning him! “Catch me up on your life! Like- what’ve you been up to since you left home? Mom and Pop haven’t stopped worrying!”

Bradford’s words echoed in her brain as Uncle, was he still her uncle? Scrooge came around the opposite corner from. “Good morning.” Better leave off any title for now.

“...fuck you.”

She hated how her voice shook when she said that. It had been years, she had ways to defend herself, she wasn’t his anymore. But still she shook, hands trembling balled into fists at her sides, shoulders curled forward as her tailfeathers fluffed and fanned.

It was the last thing she wanted to do: show him any hint of fear. But the way she leaned away from him, how her breath quickened... everything was plainly there for him to see.

Corben still, no matter how hard she had tried to escape what he’d done to her, held that golden chain she could never seem to break.

“You can’t just boss me around anymore!”

There’s a long pause after his statement. Hera isn’t even looking at him, tapping the long stick of her cigarette holder against the arm of the chair. She always enjoyed visiting Hades in the wintertime- it meant Persephone would be here as well, and that was a blessing. This was a much-needed break, she told herself. Hebe could play happily with her aunt and Cerberus, and she could speak with Hades in private.

Her mascara was running. She really needed to get a better grasp on her emotions, but her frustration was worn on her sleeve, tears falling though outwardly she seemed the picture of the holy, untouchable queen of the gods.

“Should I, Hades?” Her head tipped towards him, long golden hair pooling on the floor beside her as she did. “He’s your brother. You know how miserable he’s been. Why shouldn’t I wish for some alternative? I know the laws are clear, but is it so wrong for me to hope for a better turn?”

They pause, eye scanning over the duckling. Nothing seems to be wrong with her. Steps closer and pulls a blanket out to wrap around gently. “Your temperature was a little low. You must have been cold. That won’t do.”
