2017 World Championships Predictions Game
Hey guys! This is the same format I used for the U.S. Nationals edition, and more similar to the old one used by thegymnasticsnerd. Hopefully, this will encourage more people to give it a try!
The 2017 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships will be held from October 2 to October 8 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, so I will cut off accepting predictions at 12:00 AM EDT (U.S. Eastern Daylight Time; UTC -4:00) on September 29. This will give me time to get all the information together.
Nominative roster here. I will post start lists, and any other news as it becomes available. If any gymnasts scratch certain events or withdraw from the competition after you have already made your predictions, you may have the chance to redo them.
When making your submissions, please include the gymnast’s last name or full name. You can send predictions to my ask box here or message me directly; I will not be turning off anon during this period, but please don’t submit your predictions anonymously as that defeats the purpose. Try not to submit too many times, but I will take your most recent submission as your official one. If I don’t send you a confirmation message within 24 hours, please message me to check if I got it; if I didn’t, just send it again. My ask box has apparently eaten some people’s predictions lately, so please do double check with me! If you’re worried, you can always message me. I recommend keeping a copy of your own submissions on hand just to double-check in case I mess up scoring at some point.
If you win, you get bragging rights and hopefully more followers (including me)! I will try to make a graph of what people think will happen before the game and will announce the winners after the competition. If you get the podium correct, you will get a special mention! Don’t be shy about submitting since I will only post the winners. Please play along since this doesn’t work without a lot of people! Please reblog this post to help spread the word.
Rules are as follows:
Send me your predictions for the Top 4 (Podium + Alternate) in the all-around and in each event (vault, bars, beam, floor). Please remember that there is no team final this year. For the vault final, gymnasts must do two different vaults from different families. The alternate will be used to score your predictions only if someone in your podium prediction withdraws from the competition; the alternate will not be used if someone in your podium predictions competes, but does not make event finals. Obviously, feel free to submit whatever you’re most comfortable guessing for, but it doesn’t hurt to try for all of them! The winner will be whoever gets the podium correct; if no one is entirely correct, whoever is closest wins (e.g. if your prediction switched the order of the gold and silver medalists).
I hope this makes sense, but always feel free to ask me any questions! Please participate; it’s not fun if it’s only a few people!
Here’s a huge thank you to everyone who read until the end and submits their predictions! You guys are great 😊 Good luck to everyone and don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions!
