A couple of Mikes (and one Norman)
A moment in Mr.Teavee's life, many years after the events in the chocolate factory.
"I was surprised when I saw the door had been left half-open. I should've knocked before I opened it, but he was always so particular about locking the door that I just assumed this time was okay. Despite that, Mike looked at me no less apathetic than any other time. He was in the middle of work, I could tell from the multi-colored lines of code I would never quite begin to comprehend on his computer screen. I was about to apologize when I noticed the picture on the second screen. How long has it been since we took it? 20 years, maybe more? I can't even recall where we were at the time. I didn't even remember it existed. He must've noticed where I was looking. The room was dark (was it too late to teach him how bad that was for his sight? He probably already knew that. And he wouldn't listen, anyway), but I could tell his ears were getting red in embarrassment. I'm sure mine were as red as his. He didn't have any pictures in his house, but maybe it's because he keeps everything on his computer nowadays. To think he would keep that, as his wallpaper of all things... He asked me if I needed anything. I simply denied and apologized for interrupting. We never spoke of it. I told Doris about it during dinner. Mikey would be furious if he knew I did, but she was pleased almost as much as I. I hope he's aware of that. Sometimes I think this might be the only thing he doesn't know."
Kisses.
