The shuttle approaches the landing zone, dropping off the team. Shepard pulls out her assault rifle, her eyes scanning the area for any nearby enemies. Nothing in sight, she looks back at her team
We need to know what we’re up against. Velia, you can be our eyes. Scout ahead and tell me what you see. I want to know if we’re just dealing with troopers or if there’s heavy artillery. Mechs, turrets, that sort of thing. I don’t want any surprises.
Garrus, keep your weapon ready for any enemies that try flanking us. Just because we don’t see them, doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Keep an eye our for sleepers…Nemesis, Phantoms. I don’t need any of you dying on me just yet.
Jack, keep an eye out for your students. Let’s play this defensible until we know what kind of numbers we’re up against. I know you’re always looking for a fight, but I want to keep the casualties to a minimum. Well…/our/ casualties anyway. smirks When Velia gives me a head count, we can start the clock and see which one of us kills the most amount of these Cerberus scumbags.
She waves a hand and signals forward

Velia hopped off the shuttle and surveyed the desolate and icy landscape of Noveria, unconsciously rubbing her arms as snowflakes drifted through frigid howling wind.
As delightful as it was to be with Rayne, working for the Alliance—even indirectly—still gave her pause, and she was reminded of that feeling again when she saw the Alliance emblem on the side of the Kodiak shuttle.
/Just another contract,/ she thought, deciding to see the Alliance as just another Terminus employer who paid creds.
Rayne’s order brought her back, and she nodded, eyes lingering on the Commander only for the briefest moment before she turned away, disappearing into the snowy white haze in a flash of cloak shimmer.

Velia perched on top of a snow-covered pillar right outside the Cerberus encampment and did a quick headcount. The human radicals must’ve really cared about these students, judging from all the firepower they’ve brought.
“I see mechs, and /lots/ of soldiers on foot—they brought their whole army here,” she whispered into the radio, “there’re also faint silhouetted shimmers around the perimeter, probably Phantoms.”
