A soft groan, Lena nestled closer into his arm that she had been inadvertently using as a pillow nearly the entire night. She felt a chill crawl around her body as blankets piled over her and smoothed out at her side. Working herself awake, the warm fabric of her comforter attempting to keep her hostage was rather hard to say no to, but she found it in her to at least open her eyes. Tired golden hazel hues met greying blue, a smile quickly finding it’s place in her groggy features. Her palms reach from under the blanket out into open air to press against his cheeks, bringing his lips to meet hers for even just a few moments.
“How long have you been up?” “A little while.”
He nuzzled against her cheek, fingertips grazing her shoulder as he felt pricks in his hand from her laying on him for so long.
“Long enough to get sick of watchin’ me sleep?” “Long enough to stop admiring you in the peace and quiet, yes.”
Her own fingers followed the edge of his mouth, thumb trailing the scar on his lip. At first glance, one could find his mouth unsettling. With part of his lip gone, some teeth visible, it wasn’t something many would want to wake up to. Lena, however, didn’t mind one bit.
“I suppose I can get up… But I’m pretty cozy here, havin’ a cwtch.” “Honey, I can’t feel my arm.” “I’m usin’ it.”
Feeling his smile against her hand, the edges of his mouth turning upwards to her palm, was a feeling she couldn’t describe. All words had left her thoughts, instead just focusing on him. Her heart pounded against her ribs. Harder, more quickly, she thought she was dying. The air in her lungs grew thinner as Jack leaned down for another kiss that she graciously accepted and met.
“I want to stay like this.” A soft whisper against his ear. “A little longer won’t hurt, I suppose.” Lips a hair’s breadth away from hers in return.
