The use of MY baby vs OUR child
Perfectly illustrates this conflict at this point in their journey! Dean has been more aware of his feelings & he sees them as a family unit already, knowing they’re in this together & affected by each other’s choices (also seen in his initial decision not to date, wanting to learn the sex of the baby as a joint decision vs Hannah saying they don’t need to make every decision together)
Hannah had been struggling & in her head about the pregnancy, all while keeping those struggles and nightmares to herself until Dean confronted her directly about them. & she’s just now starting to key in on her feelings for Dean now after pushing him to another woman. It makes perfect sense she was operating in the heat of the moment as she was used to, as a single woman independent from anyone else, when her choices impacted just herself.
I can’t wait to see the progression of her getting more on the same page as Dean now like I would expect, seeing them as a connected family unit (regardless of how long it takes them to realize the other’s true feelings) and more in tune with the pregnancy being a joint project rather than just two friends independent of each other going through it
Dean spent the entire day thinking and fearing the complete opposite.
But the second he saw Hannah was just as scared as him and blaming herself, making her feel better became his top priority
It really can’t be stated enough how great Steven is at playing the subliminal feelings that don’t get voiced. You can feel the weight behind him saying that and fearing what that could mean for Hannah🥹
“Something happens to me... it happens to them.”
