     steve fucking rogers. and here you thought it was bad enough that uncle will was captain marvel these days, running around in a ridiculously suit pretending to give a shit about anybody but himself. how nauseating; the altruism of it all. you’ve never cared for the superhero agenda, even less so these days, but there’s a particular stench to the stars and stripes fluidity that makes your skin crawl. 

you cross your legs, adjust your sunglasses, and smile wickedly over the rim of your glass. it’s a nice restaurant. no need to cause a scene.

                    “     tomorrow is the day .     ”           bruce’s tone bears no hint of excitement ,     arms crossed and his eyes fixed on the war table though not really focusing on anything .     the screens shows the security feed of the terrigen reactor ,     in all angles ,     somewhere below ,     and it’s blue glow is reflected over his glasses .     tomorrow is the day ,     and everything is in order .     why do you keep searching for mistakes ?     why are you so nervous ,     bruce ?     he sighs .     “     tomorrow the world will see this beauty .     why am i so scared ?     everything will be fine ,     right ?     ”

THEY  LIVE  AND  DIE  BY  HOW  OTHERS  PERCEIVE  THEM    ;    and these perceptions fluctuate   ------------   perhaps ,  for both of them ,  although Thor is not privy to this knowledge .   it is in retrospection that they reach conclusions that sit heavy upon their shoulders  :   a burden ,  and yet freeing at the same time ,  to understand themselves based on how the world sees them .    

instinct tells Thor to retort ,  to counter what his companion says for himself ,  but this isn't the time nor the place .     instead ,  the God toys with the hem of his cape ,  deep red in colour ,  dirtied in places from their recent battles together .    both ,  enhanced beings seeking something out of their reach   ------------   the sensation of success ,  of happiness ,  maybe even of security .   a warmth beyond grasp .
