I am back after a week's unplanned and unannounced hiatus (but who's keeping count) and I am here with a spooky, steamy, quick-read recommendation. 🕸️💜🖤💜🕸️ The Wheel of the Year (Book One): The Mabon Feast by C.M. Nacosta. 🕸️🖤💜🖤🕸️ I am deeply enjoying Nacosta's emotionally engaged, contemplative way of storytelling. In the same broader universe of the magically diverse Cambric Creek as her previous books, The Mabon Feast centres around a witch and a spider-folk who have been made outcast from their communities through no fault of their own. Woven through the romance and sexual tension is the deep and poignant loneliness suffered by the characters. Questions of identity are often rooted in community, and the crisis in the former that can ensue from the abandonment by the latter will resonate hard with many readers.
