A Need For More Than Just Pizza

Ultimately the goal was to move west and find Amelie; to expand the chiral network. But with expanding the network came other tasks -- deliveries that needed to be made to those who needed that extra incentive to join Bridges and the UCA altogether. It was tedious and it was difficult. Threats expanding from weather to BTs to MULEs all stood in the way of progress. The clock was ticking but some things needed to be done before Sam could even think about moving west.
Preppers were the worst of them. All were varying degrees of stubborn and it made it seem like his journey west was a waste of time. Couldn’t expand if people were unwilling. And, in a lot of ways, Sam couldn’t blame them.
Then there was Higgs. The preppers were annoying but Higgs was on the next level of pain in the ass. He was nosy and for fuck sakes he was handsy, too. Always trying to shake hands or grasp his arms. There were plenty of times Sam wanted to punch that smug look off the other courier’s face. How Fragile could work with him, he’d never know. Sam took extra deliveries at one time just so he wouldn’t have to communicate with that strange man so often. It worked fairly well. They weren’t even the same delivery company but Higgs managed to find ways to talk to him.
Returning from a four delivery journey (which was a lot considering MULEs, BTs, and the distance), Sam jogged into the distro station at Capital Knot. The remaining gear on his back was rusted and his power skeleton looked like it had seen better days. Sam grabbed a can of container spray and dispensed it liberally over his gear. The empty can along with other used items were recycled.
His Bridge link blipped. An email just popped up regarding pizza and the desperate need for one. Sam sighed and rolled his eyes beneath heavy eyelids. He’d be the pizza delivery boy after a well earned nap. Truthfully, he needed an easy delivery after what had been thrown at him. And he’d been to this place before. It was an easy delivery. Wearily, Sam made it to his room where he’d sleep, shower, and be on his way to deliver some hot pizza.
