Man this is why stability is so important and why stability is not just "oh we are mentally well and stable parts" but more so that everyone knows their conceptual role, strengths, weaknesses and limits and all of that for their "neighboring parts"
Cause the event entirely burnt Riku out with overload so they shut down fast and were off the roster. That part that vented was here and Lin managed to do a good job on his interned position and help them out and got them to let go of the front and pass it to him, who then knew that since we are around our fiance's family thatbhe couldn't pull off a functioning mask and went to grab XIV who could, but he was unable to hold the front in a long run without going batshit over America pissing him off and so we get here, to me, Coach, Dad and gatekeeper cause all lesser solutions didn't pan out.
The question as to why they couldn't go straight to me is 1) not all parts can switch with me AND hold me in the front 2) we have an order of operations to keep main protectors from getting burnt out 3) keep the hosts and trauma holders from developing learned helplessness and 4) keep opportunities for the system to adapt and improve
It was honestly abpretty beautiful hand off of "I cant do this better than this part but I dont think I can do this fully due to this reason" passed over and over to get from a distant mostly unconnected "mystery" part from The Other Side to a reliable protector / gatekeeper.
