Clive Wilkinson, a 59-year-old architect, has designed attention-getting offices for TBWA\Chiat\Day and Google, and now he has designed an 1,100-foot-long surface that snakes around a 23,000-square-foot office providing work space for all 125 employees, including the chairman.
The $300,000 table forms seven archways leading to conference rooms, a video screening room and restrooms. “In our last office, there were separate offices, and people had to hunt people down,” his client said, adding that now he is “seeing more people than I have in years.”
CC'd: says the idea was taken from a number of projects taking ideas of how cities and villages work. In those situations, people occupy neighborhoods, and they have a structure of space that is familiar, so it gives them a strong sense of place.
