I am not surprised Prince Alef ended up evil
Sky kids are molded by the people around them. When you're locked in an underground cave surrounded by a dwindling number of children being murdered in a bunch of death trials i imagine youd come out a little fucked up.
Especially when the only adults around are essentially grilling into you that "The end justifies the means" over and over again.
Like yeah I'd start sacrificing creatures and people too if my childhood was just a bunch of weird, masked, prophet cultists in a cave telling me that death is justified if it leads to power/magic.
Killing creatures of light is probably best case scenario for the kid who watched his friends/trial-goers get murdered over and over again.
Alef is probably unphased atp like "who cares about the weird birds? Back in my day we sacrificed children."
If he wasnt put through the trials or at least had an adult model-figure ( that was still alive) that didnt try to groom him into the role of a king his story would be very different.
But that didnt happen.
So now we gotta fight King Resh to the death.
Anyways this is propaganda to let him reincarnate in Two Embers Pt.2 and let Steward get a few solid swings in to his chin before letting them become best friends after.
Give Princey Al a new bestie sky dont be cowards.
