Losing the hearing in my left ear has been really hard. It’s affected my work, my social life, and my depression. #CochlearPartner After it was clear to my specialists that the #singlesidedhearingloss was not going to correct itself, I was left few options and little hope. I’m so glad to have met some awesome folks at @cochlearamericas about their Baha Bone Conduction Implant System. I was able to try the non-surgical options and was super surprised at the results. It uses your natural ability to conduct sound through bone vibrations, so the sound bypasses the damaged part of the ear and sends clearer, more crisp sound directly to your inner ear. There is absolutely no way I’m going to hear you if you stood on my left side, which can be dangerous, and I was immediately able to have a conversation when I had the Baha 5 Sound Processor on. I hope that if you have just experienced one-sided #suddensensorineuralhearingloss that you aggressively push for EVERY treatment option available to you as soon as possible. BUT if you’re passed that point like me I’d highly recommend getting in touch with Cochlear to see if you’re a candidate.
