For @hannibalcreative‘s #OdeToMurder
I really like the movie The Exception
OK! FIRST QUESTION IS WHY? and i dont mean that in a condescending way, i mean what aspects of the film did you enjoy the most?
was it because of the way it kinda forced you to sympathize for a character that was a nazi? if so, i’d suggest All’s Quiet on the Western Front (1930). tho it’s abt WWI, it tells the story of German soldiers and really it really pulls at your heart strings.I’d also suggest you look into the work of Leni Riefenstahl who made propaganda for the third reich, and tho she has said that she despises nazi ideas, she never completely disowned the work she made, just the ideas she was made to represent.
ooor were you into the whole illicit love affair of Brandt and Mieke? if so i’d recommend the film Coco & Igor (2009)!! it’s based on the (actual) affair between Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky at the time that he, his wife and kids lived in her chateau after being exiled from Russia. it’s so fucking steamy and it’s got this deliciously slow place. from the opening titles with the floating patterns to the music and the camera work, the whole thing makes me feel like im hypnotized. I love it deffo one of my other favorite films.i’d also bring up The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and her Lover (1989). I saw this for the first time a little while ago and I could not stop thinking about it. A fun fact is while watching it I sent my uncle a msg saying basically i was really into it cus it felt like watching an opera (which i love..) and he responded saying basically ‘you’re not far off, i’m friends with the director and he’s most well known for working on operas’ and i was like fuck yeah! but seriously it’s this great film abt a woman falling in love with a man across the dinning room of her husband’s resturant and like ugh the colors like divide everything so well, and the way the camera just pans from right to left as the drama happens makes it really feel like you’re watching a stage show.
ooooooor did you just like it cus you got to see Jai Courtney naked? i can’t blame you on that one, and if so you should prolly check out Terminator Genesys (2015) there’s loads of shots of him without a shirt in that…
Okay so Igor’s wife has no eyebrow
he have no eyebrow
