Matamis na Bao

I had been missing it but this week I stopped at Big Ray Filipino Asian Convenience Store, one of a handful of Filipino stores around Halifax, and on one shelf was a matamis na bao jar ready to delight my taste buds.

While I was in the Philippines, one of my favourite breakfasts was pan de sal topped with coco jam. I had been missing it but this week I stopped at Big Ray Filipino Asian Convenience Store, one of a handful of Filipino stores around Halifax, and on one shelf was a matamis na bao jar ready to delight my taste buds.

I didn’t have pan de sal handy, but it goes well with boring old 14 grain bread.

Marikina Breakfast

I’m enjoying my first breakfast since arriving back in Manila. Pan de sal and coco jam are wonderful. I’m never sold on instant coffee, but the mug is great (wall).
