Finally got a chance to visit the downtown @cocovancouver, in its temporary location before it moves into its permanent digs four doors to the west. There I tried the Brown Sugar Pearl Latte. It is served with the espresso and tapioca pearl on the bottom, drizzled with brown sugar syrup, then topped with milk and ice. You’re meant to admire the arty swirl of the unmixed drink for a moment, then mix vigorously and enjoy. I let the milk settle on its own for the first couple of sips so I could enjoy the hot meets cold melange of coffee, syrup and milk. Only problem with that is that the brown sugar syrup is so sweet when not fully mixed in, it makes your toes curl! Fully mixed, however, the pearl absorbs the brown sugar and takes on its taste, and the whole thing really does taste like a dulce de leche latte! Nice!
