Hot COD summer where the 141 and Delta Team Metal go to the beach.
Truck and Grinch are trying to bury Sandman, Roach filled Price’s hat with sand and is trying to put it back on his head. Ghost still has his stupid mask on. Soap fell into a tide pool.
Frost and Yuri are throwing a frisbee. It wrecks Gaz’s sandcastle. Ramirez was invited by Frost. He also is playing frisbee.
Allen is dying face down in the sand (got sun screened and hates sunscreen). Archer and Toad are duking it out via volleyball with Scarecrow and Ozone.
McCoy is fishing. Gator gets fished on accident. Nikolai has to cut the fishhook out.
Overlord was handed a shovel and is now digging the world’s worst and deepest pit.
The Coolest Guy On the Radio Communications... and his hella tired medic best friend
AKA My idea of what the voice behind Overlord Command Base’s face would look like.
HCs/Taglist below
I’ve just been calling him “Overlord” because I’m too lazy to come up with an actual nickname for him, but I did give him a full name— Lee Hawks. With him is my own OC, Emilia Lynx, who is actually a Fullmetal Alchemist OC that exists only in my draft fics (A Commanding Medical Officer during the Ishval War, worked closely with both Isaac McDougal, and Solf J. Kimblee for a time. Sorta vanished after the war, perhaps she left the nation.) I grabbed her by the throat and threw her into another war... But Modern (lol).
Overlord is both the Base Commander for the Delta Squadrons and the head Radio Communications Operator. He was a former Air-Force Pilot, though retired from the field after an injury left him half blind in one eye. He states that he could technically still fly, but he probably shouldn’t. He grew up with Emilia, though he’s roughly 6 years older than her. He’s like a big brother and wears sunglasses indoors because he’s stupid (affectionate). Overlord’s nickname of “overlord” is from a childhood nickname, as he was the tallest of their childhood group of friends and jokingly called as such.
Emilia’s code/nickname is “Sturgeon”, though was originally “Frost”— a callback to FMAB. She was “Frost” when she worked with her former unit, and became “Sturgeon” after they were decimated and she was transferred to the Delta Squad as both a Commanding Medical Officer and Team Metal’s primary field medic. She chose Sturgeon partially because of a childhood memory when she, Overlord, and a few other childhood friends saw a number of them traveling to spawn and one smacked her in the face. The other part is because Sturgeon are sturdy and hardy fish, persevering even though they’re endangered.
Both Overlord and Emilia’s last names follow the FMA naming scheme of being names of military vehicles:
> The Hawk from Lee Hawks comes from the M501 MIM-23 Hawk transporter and loader
> The Lynx from Emilia Lynx comes from the ERC-90 F1 Lynx
Emilia is pretty close with Treaty ( @dilf-archivist ) and her fellow medic, Nocte ( @purgetrooperfox ), and while Overlord isn’t as close, he’s still friendly with them. Both get along with the 141, for the most part. There was a tension point between Emilia and Soap once, but that was resolved when Soap did figure out that no, she didn’t know why he was called Soap but she sure as hell would guess until she got it right. Which might be more mortifying, she came up with some rather creative guesses.
Emilia calls Derek "Frost" Westbrook “Kiddo”, much to his chagrin at times. It is noted that she is a good balance to Team Metal’s quad, and can explain Sandman’s orders in layman’s terms to those who are unused to working with them. She has given up on trying to wrangle Grinch and Truck, leaving Sandman to his fate there. Overlord thinks its all hilarious.
As far as ranks go, Overlord is a Colonel and Emilia is a Major as both a licensed physician upon joining the USAM and as a Commanding Medical Officer.

Uhhh yes, of course !!
I think I gave you the basics on discord but the idea that there's someone else who is making and moving in the dark? Iconic. Shepard is not as smart as he appears to be, confidant sure, but everything that happened, the hiding of evidence, the freed movement, the weapon supply and information, that had to come from somewhere and Shepard alone isn't enough to bury the fact that tons of weapons were moved and then vanished.
Enter Overlord, Lee Hawks, the man who shares the same nickname as the command base for the United States of America.
And wthout Graves and while hunting Shepard, the 141's realization that the Shadow's remains arent under Shepard but a different management? One who actively sends others out to remains of fights and operations to collect soldiers left behind?
Imagine coming face to face with a soldier you once knew now fighting as a contract hire under someone you distinctly recall as being extremely unhinged despite his pleasant attitude and speech patterns.
But where Graves and Shepard saw it all as a means to an end, Overlord and his small group that have merged into the Shadows see it only as the beginning. Or something. Really, this is just an excuse to write Overlord sitting in the dark with his boots on Shepard's desk like some sort of maniac. You can take a man away from the appalachia but you cant take the appalachia from the man.
also uhhh snippit under the cut
Shepard let out a breath as he closed the door to the office in his safe house, only to startle at the glint in the dark.
There was no mistaking it for anything other than what it was, and Shepard had been working in darkened rooms and among dangerous sorts for a while now.
The barrel of a gun was pointed at him, and he tensed, his hand already moving to the handgun on his hip but he knew that it hardly mattered. By the time he drew and aimed, a bullet would be through his head.
Only, nothing happened, and instead, the light of the lamp flicked on. A laugh echoed through the room as it was bathed in dim light.
"Relax," the man sitting at Shepard's desk said, a chuckle still in his tone as he set the gun down. His boots were kicked up onto the surface, a pleasant smile on his face as if this were just a normal meeting and nothing else.
Lee Hawks.
If no one knew better, they'd have given the man a medal for finding Shepard so quickly and cornering him-- especially with that warning that Laswell put out on him.
But Shepard knew better. And knew that Lee Hawks wasn't here to accost him. Not when the two of them were so deep into the pits that it would do more damage than good to him and those fools that followed the command operative's every under-the-table order.
Though, Shepard shouldn't fool himself.
There was a reason why Hawks had been called Overlord well before he joined the command base that answered to the same name.
Overlord knew exactly how to play his pieces, and that was why Shepard had been willing to work with him when approached because Graves just had to spill.
Nonetheless, Shepard let out a breath before fixing the other man with a glare. This wasn't the first time Overlord had pulled a stunt like this, but luckily for him, Shepard knew that Overlord knew better.
After all, they were working towards the same cause... and if Overlord really wanted him dead... well, best not to think about how many people went missing in those mountains of his he called home.
