31 Days of Heathenism

06) If heathenism gave you a code to live by, what would that look like? (i.e. How has this faith encouraged you to live?)

I live my life on the basis of doing what feels good and what feels right. I grew up Catholic and that has influenced me a lot in what I view as right and wrong. I believe in a value of life and self. The Earth is the only home we'll have, so respect it. I honestly couldn't tell you a set a list of what I believe because some of it changes quite frequently, and like anyone else in life, I'm changing. My views are changing. I'm constantly in flux and constantly reminding myself to "stay on the wagon". I have my falls just like anyone. But instead of begging for forgiveness, I allow myself to be sorry and repent in some small way.

The Four Agreements.

Agreement 1 - Be impeccable with your word.

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Agreement 2 - Don't take anything personally.

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their reality, their dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

Agreement 3 - Don't make assumptions.

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform our life.

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse and regret.
