Sissigate: What You Didn't See On Code Lyoko. Part 4: Season 1
Welcome to Sissigate! A few bits and pieces related to Miss Delmas unfortunately met an untimely demise on the Cutting-Room Floor, as documented by the pain-staking research of Code Lyoko.fr. At last, we can finally reveal these to you, but it's not for the fainthearted! We'll go from order of screentime, from Evolution to Season 1, where Sissi appeared in every single episode in some shape or form! We've saved the best for last! Try not to get a heart attack as we delve into the deleted scenes that marked Sissi's debut to the world!
*** *"Teddygozilla" introduced us to Sissi for the first time. More importantly, quite a large number of male viewers were introduced to some aspects of puberty and the concept of hormones during the Infamous Fanservice Sequence. However, in the original script, XANA's spectre would've been a bit more violent on our hot heroine, cutting the IFS short. The curlers would've landed in a sink (?!) in Sissi's bedroom and short-circuited, causing Sissi to be propelled across the room! Remember that when you next want to relive that part of your adolescent-hood, lads! :P *Seven episodes of uninterest later, in "End of Take", Sissi would've appeared in an extended cut of an early scene. Here, she would've burst into Jeremie's room with two dresses in her hand, asking Ulrich... "Ulrich dear! I need your opinion. Which dress should I take?" *At last, some deleted Fanservice! *Waits for the cheers to subside* No, no, not in her underwear! *Waits for the boos to subside before continuing* For those who are into the 'stuck/in peril' fetish, there would've been a scene where Sissi and Ulrich escape the alien by heading into the waters of the turbine room. There, she would be DRAGGED INTO THE WATER by the alien! Struggling a bit, Ulrich would've landed an iron bar on the alien, injuring it, and saving Sissi's life. As always, Sissi survives. She ALWAYS survives, non-believers! *Sissi's survival skills come into play again in "The Girl of the Dreams", two episodes later. In her one and only scene (probably one of the few episodes of Season 1 she wasn't in), she would've encountered the possessed samurai. Peering into the armour and asking "Who is this clown?", the samurai would express its confusion at such a pretty face (my guess), by raising his sword and attempting to kill Sissi! Fortunately, the sword gets stuck behind the samurai, allowing Sissi to live another day, albeit paralyzed with fear! *The next episode, "Plagued", features an extended scene, a deleted scene AND an alternate scene all at once! In the original version of events, Sissi encounters the XANA-possessed rat ... but doesn't whack it with a shoe! She grabs a ruler and throws that instead. Just like the shoe, it has no effect and instead awakens the other rats in the closet! Panting, Sissi pushes the door ajar and gets ready to grab the vacuum cleaner with what could've been the sexiest evil grin on her face....when there's a knock at the door! Exasperated, Sissi looks up to the heavens before locking the closet door and opening her bedroom door to reveal a Walkman-wearing background character named Lionel. Lionel: "I'm sorry, but could you make a bit less noise? Some of us are working next door!" What follows next, up until the next season anyway, is what I call the Lost Crowning Moment of Awesome from Sissi Delmas. Sissi notices to her disgust that Lionel's 70s-style sandals are quite long, to the extent where the tips of it are touching her bedroom carpet! Not wanting to let a nonentity get the better of her, she shoots what could be gathered as the most intimidating glare at Lionel! The teen, having incurred the wrath of our heroine, backs away nervously, but Sissi is not done with him yet! She grabs the door and WHACKS Lionel unconscious with it! Christ almighty! Picking up his Walkman as booty, she sprawls on the bed and listens to it, unaware of the rats scratching away in the closet. You may now commence clapping. *Wonder where Sissi gets to after that (now-dull) scene? The script explains that, in a deleted scene, she nods off whilst listening to the Walkman, waking up later by a ring from her watch. Grumbling, she gets up. *Taking a break from that epic scene, Episode 13 ("Just in Time") brings Sissi back down to normality as she appears in a deleted scene telling Ulrich and Odd about the swarm: Ulrich: "Sissi, can you tell us exactly what happened?" Sissi: "Sure, Ulrich .... oh, if only you knew how frightened I was! It was horrible! Here, feel my heart racing....!" To which she then grabs Ulrich's hand and places it on her chest. Ulrich hastily withdraws his hand! *A couple of episodes later, in "Laughing Fit", Sissi's role in the show could've taken on a more interesting path. Instead of yelling at Nicholas, Sissi would've said: "That's weird ... I feel like I've experienced this before..." Had that been kept, it would've made Sissi the first person to still retain some aspects of her memory before the RTTP outside of the gang! Yes, she would've done what Laura did in Evolution, only a lot better! In the prequels, despite being with the gang when they activated the supercomputer, her memories were wiped clean (which happened every episode she was in afterwards). Why didn't you stick to your original foreshadowing development, Moonscoop? You could have had Sissi as a main character by Season 3! :P *By the second half of Season 1, Sissi's scenes have more or less remained the same. Though, in "The Robots", the final scene with Sissi in was actually NOT in the original script!
*** ....And so we come to the end of "Sissigate". To sum up: even though there wasn't any deleted fanservice with Sissi in her underwear in the the shooting scripts, she did actually mention her long-debated mother and was cruelly subjected to Odd's fanservice twice. Then she managed to show off her awesome prowess by KO'ing a background character and slapping Nicholas across the chops. However, once the Season 4 scripts are found and analyzed by the Code Lyoko.fr team, the 'inquiry' will reopen and be completed, so more Sissi stuff awaits us, even if it's not as lengthy as the last two parts. Who knows what Sissi-related surprises will be dug up and promoted here over 2014? Stay tuned!

At last, we can finally reveal these to you, but it's not for the fainthearted! We'll go from order of screentime, from Evolution to Season 1, where Sissi appeared in every single episode in some shape or form! This time, it's Season 2 of the cartoon series (i.e. the better version), and since this one has been given two pages by the website, there's gonna be a bit more stuff to uncover hopefully...

*Right off the bat we've got a deleted scene in the first episode, "New Order". Luckily, though, the scene was deleted to prevent a massive error occurring! Sissi knew Aelita from when she first arrived on Earth temporarily in Season 1, but according to this scene, THEY NEVER BLOODY MET!! Ooops! In any case, had it gone in by accident or otherwise, the 'meeting' would've gone something like this.... (Translated/dubbed by me) Sissi: "Ah, the new girl!" Aelita: "Yes, I'm Aelita Stones, as in the rock band. I'm...." Sissi: "'...Odd's Canadian* cousin'. OK, I'm not deaf! As the principal's daughter, I too have some rules to clarify with you on living in the dorms.... Number one, no loud music in the rooms. Especially music I don't like! Number two, cooking's off limits. And uh, number three, no pets allowed!" Here, she glares at Odd. Odd's response? "Number four, don't stink the place up with cheap perfume!" Sissi then grows speechless as Ulrich introduces Aelita to her as "your new neighbour ... she loves getting rebuffed by Odd!" With a cry of "Idiots!", Sissi exits the scene. (Interestingly, Aelita is still from Holland in the script, so they still cocked it up anyway! Oops!) *Remember last time when we said how Odd groped Sissi in the script for the very first episode chronological-wise? Well, it would've been the second time Odd displeased Sissi in such a fashion: in "Unchartered Territory", Odd's towel would've slipped off during his conversation with her! ("Silence, moron! You without your towel makes it even more annoying!" she would've said) The result if it went ahead anyway? Odd/Sissi shippers would've been over the moon, CN would've dropped the axe on the show altogether, and all the other fanservice with Sissi in during Season 2 would've ended up in this post! (This was the 5th important change on the main page of Code Lyoko.fr's research) *Another important piece of trivia, just as important as Sissi's mother being mentioned in Evolution, appears in the next episode, "Exploration". Turns out Sissi would've mentioned her mum in the cartoon series too! "Oh, how cute! I also remember when my mother accompanied me to school .... when I was 5 years old!" *It's not until "Final Mix" that we get another change in the script. Here are some deleted lines when Sissi and Ulrich are at the vending machine. Sissi takes Ulrich's hand....: Sissi: "You will be there, won't you? It'll be a great night!" Ulrich takes his hand off hers and makes the excuse that he has to revise for the science exam. Sissi: "We can do it together if you want!" (She says pleasantly) "I'm very good at revising!" Ulrich rebukes that he doesn't call looking in the mirror listening to various pieces of music 'revising'. *Sissi makes an appearance in a deleted scene with Odd where we learn that they both failed the test. Nothing important there.... *....though Sissi has another deleted scene shortly after that one! As Ulrich races from the dance to the Factory, Sissi would've bumped into him and said "Ah .... You can't leave me by myself! Come back!" before getting caught in the confusion. *Not much to report from then on until the episode "XANA's Kiss", where we get an interesting deleted scene. Sissi would've been possessed by XANA for a SECOND time, but only briefly, as the spectre would then continue its pursuit of Aelita, which it didn't do in the actual episode! *Two episodes later, in "Cold War", a deleted scene would've established the concept mentioned by Ulrich in the later prequels that Sissi has 'a lot of admirers'. Here, she would've tried to tempt a background character by the name of JT by fluttering her eyes at him during his speech! *Sissi also gets violent in the original script, where it would've actually shown her WHACKING Nicholas one! (We only got to hear it and the scene afterwards.) Bloody hell! Now you know why she survived most of the episode before the Return to the Past ... she's badass! *A little smidgen of a find for "Contact" (the one with Sissizilla). Sissi wouldn't have gotten to utter her backwards dialogue in the original script, instead she would've written the words on the screen. Next: the all-important Season 1!

Welcome to Sissigate! A few bits and pieces related to Miss Delmas unfortunately met an untimely demise on the Cutting-Room Floor, as documented by the pain-staking research of Code Lyoko.fr. At last, we can finally reveal these to you, but it's not for the fainthearted! We'll go from order of screentime, from Evolution to Season 1, where Sissi appeared in every single episode in some shape or form! This time, it's Season 3 of the cartoon series (i.e. the better version), where Sissi made few appearances (with the noted exception of the prequels, natch), but a lot more than her 2 episode stint in the live action series.

*Positioned in seventh place on the main page of Code Lyoko.fr's research, this is by far the most important change in Season 3 AND in the Sissi Fanservice fandom (Why the separate fandom? Because shut up, that's why) as it takes place at the VERY BEGINNING OF THE SHOW chronologically (i.e. the first prequel episode). During the scene where Odd is running after Ulrich (who kidnapped Kiwi), he crashes into Sissi and falls to the ground ... where in the script he does the one thing that Odd/Sissi shippers wish would've happened... He accidentally GROPES Sissi! D: DUN DUN DUUUUNNNNN!!! To which Sissi replies (translated/adapted to the dubbing standards by me): "What nerve...! I advise you to remove your big paws off my ... uh ... from where they are!!" Why is it so important to us? Well, maybe THIS was when CN finally put their foot down and ordered Moonscoop to tone down the fanservice. After all, Cartoon Network was the only place in the Western world at that time to air Code Lyoko in English, so by this time they might have had some say in some stuff. In fact, depending on which order the scripts were written and the episodes were produced, this may ALSO solve the mystery of why Sissi's appearances were reduced: she was being overhauled so that both parties could be happy (she could still be in the show, and no parents would complain about her putting a spell on awkward adolescents)! *Instead of 'an Egyptian pharaoh', Sissi namechecks Tutankhamen (She got in a lot of pop culture references in the show, didn't she?), thus proving that she's a lot more smarter than the anti-fans make her to be! *You might be asking yourself now, "Were there any deleted scenes with Sissi in?" You're in luck! Episode 64, "Double Trouble", was notable because Sissi appeared in the first scene only! However, there WAS supposed to be another scene! Translated/adapted for your benefit, let's tune in to Jeremie, Ulrich, and Aelita after that particular scene, in the corridors of the school.... Ulrich: "If my grades go down any lower, I'll have to retake the year for sure!" Jeremie: "I know it really won't help matters, Ulrich, but Aelita and I aren't getting good scores the last couple of days either!" Aelita: "It's normal! There have been too many emergencies in Lyoko lately! We no longer have time to work!" Cue You-Know-Who, overtaking them and feeling very happy! Sissi: "Don't look so sad, Einsteins! After all, if you add all your scores up, you almost reach the average mark, right?" Sissi then puts on a jubilant smile, much to the chagrin of the gang. Sadly, it's the other way round now. But if only the above (Curse you, Odd!) didn't happen, eh? Still to come! Seasons 2 and 1, which have 2 pages each on the site so we'll probably find a lot more than just a couple of notes and observations!

At last, we can finally reveal these to you, but it's not for the fainthearted! We'll go from order of screentime, from Evolution to Season 1, where Sissi appeared in every single episode in some shape or form! Let's start with Season 5 (4's not been revealed to us yet as they haven't got the scripts!), where Sissi made the least number of appearances.
*** Only one important change, then, but it's a doozy! Did Sissi intend to make more appearances in the show? No. Was there going to be hints of some fanservice? No. Did the creators anticipate us fans and thought about putting Sissi in as the seventh Lyoko Warrior? Sadly, no. :( However, in a deleted scene in Episode 21, the latest (and possibly last, due to Moonscoop's administration issues) appearance of Sissi, our heroine reveals to Aelita some interesting information.... In context, translated from French by me, then.... "I never thought I'd see my shopping day end up like this ... for once I found someone to go with me!" To which Aelita asks Sissi who usually takes her shopping. To which this humdinger of an answer would've been dropped.... "My mother, but only for a weekend or two. I miss it." Yes, the question that was on everyone's lips during the cartoon incarnation of the show, "What happened to Sissi's mother?", was going to be answered by Sissi. Her mother, as intended by the writers all along, is alive! From the looks of things, they just divorced and Sissi sees her every other weekend or so. Though thanks to the Recession, we'll never get to see her in some shape or form. :( I'll let you recuperate from that shock, and put up Season 3 later today!
The Secret Side of Sissi Delmas....!
Happy New Year, Sissi fans! Here's another thing Code Lyoko.fr has done. Not satisfied with revealing Sissi's position in the original Season 1 bible and how she was originally going to have brown hair, they've taken sticks of dynamite to the original scripts of the show and BLOWN THEM APART to reveal the things that were changed or even cut out of the episodes. So far, Seasons 1-3 and 5 have been analyzed and translated to English, with Season 4 remaining the most mysterious of all, since they haven't gotten them yet --- and since this is the one where Sissi returns after a long career as Background Character, it'll become as legendary as the missing episodes of Doctor Who, you just watch.
Of course, Sissi herself had managed to get away with increasing amounts of Fanservice until CN threatened her with the pink slip, but for the first time, the site reveals to us what would have happened if CN had still been asleep at the wheel by the time Season 3 came round! Later this month, after I've analyzed the page myself, I'll post my favourite discoveries here!
Who knows what other juicy secrets and goodies Sissi-related the website will bring to us in 2014? Either way, this blog will keep you posted and promote the website at the same time!

10 Years of Sissi Delmas! [And Code Lyoko Too...]
The screenshot you are seeing above this text marks the first appearance of Sissi Delmas, nearly ten years ago this month in 2003. Sissi had the lucky chance of debuting in "Teddygozilla", as well as wowing many of us male viewers in the first ten minutes. Naturally, while her French voice remained constant until it was replaced in Code Lyoko Evolution, her American voice that we know and love, provided by Jodi Forrest, didn't come round until Episode 4. Christine Flowers had the honor of voicing our cute French semi-antagonist in this episode. Sissi remained a constant in the episodes making up Season 1 and a vast majority of Season 2, before she virtually disappeared in Season 3 (making only a few cameos) and returned abruptly in Season 4. She even starred in a fan documentary, being the ONLY character to do so! Season 5 was, however, a bad time for Sissi fans, since she only made two appearances in all. Nevertheless, the fact that our fanbase is ten years old deserves some celebration, even though I'm a day late GMT-wise (but right on time for the American fans) and the American dub didn't technically start until 2004. So, here's to ten years of celebrating THE best minor character in the show. [Of course, the tribute blog to Jim might have also said this already....] And while we've got a couple more posts to go until 200, we can't forget this important occasion. Code Lyoko.fr, the most awesome Lyoko website in the world, hasn't. And that's where the surprise comes in! Clicking on the bottom link takes you to the Code Lyoko series bible, or at least before they finalized Season 1. Even though she never appeared in the student film, nor the Garage Kids pilot, clicking on the 25th picture takes you to Sissi Delmas' entry! It's in French, natch, but considering that this is where she made her grand debut to the world before her televised appearance, it's quite a spectacle! And look! She's the very first minor character to be profiled! Take that, Jim fans!
