"Shoes aren't really important right now," B interjects, pointing their flashlight towards the woods and then back at the center of your group. “I don't care if you have fancy name brand shoes or Crocs."

You glance up from your improvised carpet after B makes that serious remark, no longer cleaning off the mud that clings to the soles of your shoes.

R is undeterred, smiling without really meaning to, but they do manage to stifle their laughter. "I would not be caught dead in Crocs; however, we can all meet tomorrow to discuss more 'important'-" the smooth cadence of their voice lowers a touch to become faintly mocking, "-matters, if you like? Preferably in a setting with less dirt and bugs."

"Yeah, I'd like that," B concedes. "We can't pretend nothing happened out there…"

S also nods their agreement with the plan, which means at least three of them are in favor of it. "I guess that's fine," you decide, stepping back over to the group and away from the stained grass.

"J!"

A new voice cuts through the moment between the five of you.

- I have not been keeping up with asks or the queue as much this week, instead focusing on irl arrangements and writing. - That being said, I have been writing when I can. 😊 I just coded the final choice of Chapter 7 before typing up this weekly update; it became longer than I expected because I added more character interaction. - I created a few coding trackers to better tailor how you react to a potential development with A in Chapter 6 that has ramifications for...For the rest of the series, so that was fun and will make replays vary even more! 👀

- Work on Chapter 8 will start very, very soon. I have been waiting, hoping, and (heh...) dreaming about the next set of scenes that comprise it. Lowkey been missing Ms. Verner (...shh); she will make an appearance in that chapter, which may be fun (...or not) for some of your MCs.

Weekly Update: 8 October 2021

> Here is a more specific update regarding what I have been doing:

- Writing, writing, and more writing! I am concentrating more on that aspect than the editing, social, or finalizing some graphic edits. - I finished Chapter 9 late last night. 🎉😎  - Finishing that chapter relatively speedily was a personal goal rather than a writing one because I wanted to see if I could manage to do it. I focused on it intensely the last couple of weeks. As I mentioned last update, there are quite a few possible revelations and ‘aha moments’ based on what you have learned or been personally theorizing as you play. My outline for it was pretty extensive, allowing me to fill it relatively smoothly, though I added some choices. :D - I went back over my Chapter 10 outline, adding a few things that I think will be fun and ensuring it accomplishes what it needs to with how the mysteries in Fernweh tend to nest. I used the word ‘unraveling’ in the game’s brief description and that is very accurate with how you can theorize about how things relate (or possibly don’t relate). I’m excited!  - You will not learn everything in one book, but perhaps get hints or foreshadowing about future things to uncover as we move through the series. 👀 - I have thought about it and moving forward, weekly updates may become every other week as opposed to once a week.

OMG I didn't know there was a JR poly and I found out and I spent like 2 and a half minutes going "OMG YES" and squealing like a little girl because I'm so happy I don't have to pick between them.

The poly route has been a pleasant surprise for quite a few readers; I'm grateful there is interest in it. This ask was especially motivating to see when I was working on their section in Chapter 8.

I am including a snippet of code from Chapter 6 that is a tiny portion of one of their moments towards the end of that chapter; there is some tension to it...

ROs fave flavor of cookie? 🍪

This is actually something that will come up in-game, lol; however, a past choice relates to who states their preference, so I will list them here.

B: A classic chocolate chip cookie; this type reminds them of their grandmother's recipe, though I think most cookies they have had fall short of what she makes for them.

S: A peanut butter cookie! Preferably made with crunchy peanut butter.

R: A sugar cookie, so no biscotti or a linzer cookie; they like the simple taste to it.

J: An oatmeal raisin cookie; kind of hardy and filling, but still sweet. Yes, R has an opinion on this^; I included a teaser of edited code below:

"Of course, you would like the most boring cookie flavor," R murmurs the remark, subtly glancing between the family members because they can detect that the conversation is becoming less amicable. "I prefer sugar cookies."

I'm glad that you're looking forward to J's romance; they could use some love! Also, the fact that you're planning to tag team them with R is precious (there can be some angst on the poly route, but it's worth it) and makes me excited for you to experience the difference.

I've included an edited J code snippet below that comes from...Well, it comes from Chapter 7 (<.< ), but yay for slight spoilers? This is just one section of a few pages relating to a choice the MC can make that I am fond of... 👀

"Then I guess I'll wait too..."

J does turn to face you properly at that statement, unsure of what you mean by it and if they possibly heard you wrong, though the thought of asking for clarification causes them to hesitate. Are you really waiting for them...? The very start of a soft smile buckles under their nerves and self-doubt, bludgeoned into a thin, inscrutable line like tempered steel being hammered out into something stronger that is less malleable and impressionable. "That is considerate, but please, after you-" a hand gestures to the corner booth that is mostly filled at this point. "I don't mind being last, MC. You know that..."

You aren't going to be able to win a debate over seating convention, so you go first, sliding into the booth with J following behind at a slower pace.
