mason didn’t really talk to many people. he wasn’t the type to make friends or socialise beyond getting drunk in bars but since the trip with codi, he had grown to really enjoy her company, even if he had taken his time to finally catch up with her for lunch. sitting down at the table, he waited for codi to sit opposite him before speaking, not really sure what to actually say to her, it had been a little bit since they had seen each other. “so how’s... life?” he asked, a little awkward now that they were face to face, it was a lot easier to talk to someone over text or being forced in a van for a whole week. lunch seemed a lot more intimate but he was trying to just take it as it went. “aren’t you like... with that tj guy? or am i missing something?”

the van was all set up, he went to the store to buy some shit that they needed such as food, bedding, cords for their phones and anything else the lady there thought would be needed and now they were set to go. he hardly knew the girl, only really seeing her pop up a few times in the group chat but other than that, they were strangers. the task he got given seemed a little too easy but he rolled with it, knowing the latter would be hell of a lot worse. “you ready?” he asked as codi walked up to the van, mason in the drivers seat, sunnies on and a cigarette between his lips. “sorry if you don’t like smoking, i smoke a pack a day and this trip will not be an exception...”
