Ghost knows this profession carries a high risk of fatality. Yet bidding farewell to comrades is always difficult—especially when it’s his best friend, John “Soap” MacTavish. No one can see the sadness behind his skull balaclava, but everyone knows how deeply Soap’s death hurts him.
Ghost isolates himself for three straight days, skipping training for the first time. Price knows this would happen. He knows he should give the man space, but isolation isn’t healthy.
Price knocks on the door and waits. Ghost ignores him. As Price tries to force a response, his anger gets the better of him.
“You’ll come out when you’re ready!” Price demands
The captain hates himself for shouting, but seeing Ghost like this infuriates him just as much as Soap's death does.

No one is taking Soap’s death well. Everyone knows Ghost is putting on an act. Acting like the death didn’t affect him. He’d argue Soap knew the risks. That it’s part of the job. Price knows it’s the cold truth, but he can tell Ghost is lying to himself. He knows how much Soap meant to Ghost.
“You don’t have to be ok right now.”
“Piss off!”
Ghost walks down the corridor. Price sighs, worried about his lieutenant.
Ghost skips dinner. This adds to the captain’s concern. He brings food to Ghost’s room.
As he opens the door, Price hears crying. The door closes with a soft click. Ghost doesn’t hear it over his crying. Price puts the tray on the desk and lies on the bed beside Ghost. Ghost flinches at feeling Price’s hand on his shoulder, but he doesn’t attempt to get it off. The only sound in the room is Ghost’s crying. Price knows words can’t help right now.
Price remains as he is for a few minutes once Ghost stops crying.
“Come on, you need to eat.”
Price gets off the bed as Ghost moves to the edge. Price shows him the tray of food. Price knows Ghost isn’t hungry, but he’s not letting Ghost avoid eating. Ghost knows Price won’t take no for an answer. He makes himself eat. After Ghost finishes, Price gets Ghost to shower. As odd as it is, Price gets Ghost’s clothes out for the night like a worried father. Ghost doesn’t argue as he takes the clothes from Price and goes into the bathroom.Price sits on the bed, waiting, keeping track of the minutes. A cold realization hits him—he should have removed the razor from the bathroom. He knows all too well what a desperate mind can do with it.
Ghost walks out of the bathroom ten minutes later. Price sees how tired he is. He’s relieved Ghost isn’t arguing as he tells the man to get in bed.
Once Ghost is asleep, Price makes a trip to his room to change and grab a camp bed from the storage closet. He’ll opt for discomfort and an argument in the morning to keep Ghost safe.
Price is careful setting up the camp bed not to wake Ghost, questioning if he’ll sleep, but he will not leave Ghost alone.
Ghost wakes up as the sun shines through the window. He sees Price sleeping on the camper’s bed. He waits for Price to awaken.
He doesn’t wait long. The captain swings his legs over the edge and stretches.
“You stayed?” Ghost asks.
“I’m not leaving you alone while you’re dealing with grief like this. As I said yesterday, you don’t need to be okay right now. You don’t have to grieve alone.”

Post mission paperwork has Price in his office until eight. He looks at a photo on his desk. A photo reminding him of the life changes that has happened. Paperwork is finally complete. Price leaves the room and the main building.
The captain passes the barracks he used to frequent nightly. Now his walk is a little longer as he goes to the building for family housing. As he walks, he thinks of that discussion. One of many discussions he had with Nikolai and Kate Laswell. He knew she’d be supportive. He knew all his friends would be supportive, as they are with his relationship with Nikolai. Two years flew by quick.
Only one light is on in the townhouse as Price approaches the building. He knows that room. His daughter Jamie’s room.
Price unlocks the door, enters the apartment, turns on the light and heads upstairs.
As Price gets to the top of the stairs, he hears Nikolai’s voice. His lips form a smile. He still can’t believe Nikolai is reading bedtime stories out loud.
Price stands in the doorway, still unable to believe they have a toddler.
“Again! Again!” Jamie demands.
“I’ve read this five times already.”
“Just one more time.”
Price chuckles, giving away that he’s been watching.
“Daddy!”
“You stay in bed,” Nikolai demands, keeping Jamie in bed.
Price approaches the bed, seeing the book Jamie wants to hear Nikolai read again. The book he reads every night.
“You have other books. Does Papa really have to read Good Night Moon again?”
“Yes!”
“Она избалована.”
Price chuckles at Nikolai’s complaint.
“She is spoiled. At least we have others to blame besides ourselves for this.”
“Yes, Soap is the worst spoiling her. We told him often she doesn’t require a new toy each week.”
“At least five times. Glad Gaz and Ghost listen.”
Jamie yawns. The two fathers turn their attention to their daughter. Nikolai puts the book away while Price ticks her in. Both take turns kissing her and saying goodnight. They wait until she’s asleep before leaving the room. A night light is on, offering dim illumination in the darkness.

Description: A sunset dinner date with a surprise
Day 7.1;
@fluffyjuly; Happy tears | "Will you marry me?"
Ao3 or under the cut
Today is a day for Nikolai and John Price to celebrate. Eight years of friendship. Nikolai convinced Price to go for a helicopter ride to a field and have dinner as the sun sets. It’s no surprise to Price that Nikolai said he’d do the cooking. The Russian admits that he’ll be getting a cake from a local bakery.
“Cutting corners are we?” Price teases.
Nikolai only smiles before walking away. Price goes back to his office.
The hours tick by. Price has plenty to do, but he’s frustrated with the waiting. It’s obvious to everyone that he's tougher on the recruits today. Gaz, Ghost, and Soap know not to ask Price what’s troubling him, he’ll only lash out at them.
“Something is up,” Soap says.
“I’m thinking shit with the higher ups,” Ghost says. “All we can do is hope this passes soon before he scares all the recruits shitless.”
Thirty minutes before sunset. Price walks into the hangar where Nikolai keeps his helicopter. He sees the Russian doing the last checks. He sees the large cooler bag in the corner.
“Don’t you dare.”
Price smirks at the man’s warning.
“Is dinner that big of a secret?”
“So what if it is?”
Nikolai grabs the bag and puts it in the helicopter. He resumes his checks. Price watches him amused.
The bird is in the air ten minutes later. Price attempts to get Nikolai to tell him what’s in the cooler, but Nikolai won’t budge.
The bird lands in the middle of a field. Nikolai grabs the cooler, and the two disembark. The two pick a spot close to the bird to sit in the grass.
“Russian dinner,” Nikolai says as he unpacks a couple of containers.
Okróshka, Herring under the fur coat and Pryanik.
Price smiles at Nik’s choices. He’s never disappointed when he lets Nik cook. Nik finishes unpacking plates and utensils. He plates the food and hands the plate to Price before getting his own.
"I heard you scared some recruits today."
Once the two have had enough, Price gathers the dishes while Nikolai gets the white box from the cooler. Once the dishes are in the cooler, Price turns his attention to the box.
Price watches Nikolai open the cake box. He stares at the words on the cake. It isn't ‘Happy eight years of friendship’ or anything related to their friendship. Instead, Price reads, ‘Will you marry me?’.
“Well? Will you marry me?"
“Yes.”
Tears roll down Price’s face. Nikolai knows these are happy tears.
“While we’ve been officially dating for six months, I feel we’ve had an unofficial relationship for seven and a half years. I’m not rushing.”
The two kiss as the sun sets. Price pushes Nikolai to the ground and dry humps him.
“Really?” Nikolai smiles. “Out here on the field.”
“Or the floor of the helicopter.”
“Let’s clean up first.”
Price sighs, impatient.
Before long, Price is on the helicopter floor, enjoying himself with his fiancée. Details that no one will know about when they announce their engagement.
NikPrice Week Day 6 - Alternate Universe + Day 7 - Meeting The Family
Well, everything I've written for NikPrice week could be considered AU/
This part of the AU is meeting Price's Parents. Haven't decided if he should have siblings yet. This event has inspired a NikPrice AU where the two are together and parents. My OC, Jamie is their kid in this AU. She's turned into a toddler for this.
On a spring day in March, Nikolai and Price sit in a black car on their way to Price’s parents’ home. All Price’s parents know is that he’s in the SAS. He decided not to tell them he’s the captain of his own task force for their protection. Accepting the tough challenge of keeping his secrets. He’s been successful for the past ten years. However, his parents express disappointment for not telling him everything. This time will be different as his parents meet the man he loves. What Price is most concerned about is his parents asking Nikolai to talk about his personal life and assuming his refusal is a red flag. Regardless of Price explaining his trust and his friendship of almost eight years with the Russian. The things he’s kept secret for years could fall apart today. Nikolai sees how nervous Price is. He’s aware of the things he hasn’t told his parents. The Russian is also nervous to meet Price’s parents. He understands they will disapprove of his reluctance to share details of his work.
The car drives down streets of terrace homes. Both men’s anxiety increase as they get closer to their destination. Price grips the steering wheel. Price dislikes that a visit to his parents’ home is causing this much anxiety when he visited three months ago for Christmas. He shouldn’t feel this way.
The car parks on the curb in front of a white brick terrace. An older couple steps out.
“Can’t keep them waiting all day,” Nikolai says.
Price lets out a shaky breath. He knows why this is hard. His parents never spoke ill of same-sex couples, but his mother would often speak of him marrying a beautiful woman and having grandchildren. He feels like he’s letting her down. The two her out of the car and approach the waiting couple.
The four sit on the two sofas. Nikolai introduces himself, as does John’s parents, John Sr. and Olivia. The couple doesn’t question the lack of a last name from Nikolai. Nikolai tells the two he’s a pilot and has known Price for almost eight years. This impresses John Sr. and Olivia, but also reminded of the things their son hasn’t told him. They trust he has a good reason. Believing it is because of his line of work.
“Isn’t there something else you want to tell us?” John Sr. asks.
Price freezes, worried about what they’re talking about. Hoping it has nothing to do with his job. He doesn’t know what to say.
“I’m disappointed, John,” Olivia says. The room is silent. Price is worried as his father says nothing. The captain’s mind is racing with fear. Olivia smiles. “That you think your father and I wouldn’t approve of your love life.”
Price sighs, relieved.
“You shouldn’t scare him like that,” John Sr. chuckles.
“Perhaps I shouldn’t have considering the world we live in. I’m sorry.”
She hugs her son as part of her apology then Nikolai. Price sighs, relieved. The outcome of this visit is positive. He still hopes to not tell them about his career, hoping that’ll keep them safe.
NikPrice Week Day 2 - Road Trip & Day 4 - A Well-deserved Break
Or planning one. I need more tie to write a good road trip story.
If I was confident that NikPrice would be the center of attention enough while including my oc, Jamie, I'd write that they're taking her on a road trip across the US state she lives. This is going to be part of my NikPrice AU.
The op was long. A month-long op isn’t new to Price or Nikolai, but it’s tiring. Price sits at his desk, the paperwork finally finished. When Nikolai enters the room, he takes one look at the exhausted captain.
“We should take a well-deserved break.”
Price looks up at him. “To where?”
“Road trip.” Nikolai shows Price a map on his phone, the Atlantic Highway A39 highlighted. "It's summer. A good tie for this route."
Price knows Nik isn’t thinking they will simply drive the route—that wouldn't take long. He knows Nik has actual plans up his sleeve. Price pulls out a map of England and unlocks his own phone while Nik takes a seat in the chair across from the desk. Together, the two plot their course, aiming for at least a relaxing weekend away—while fully aware that road trips have a habit of becoming anything but relaxing.

The last mission ended in shit. Which means more paperwork and planning for Price. Figuring out Task Force 141's next move. Nikolai watches, worried. He knows being the captain is stressful, but he's never seen Price like this. The Russian believes this is not just stress, but anger.
Nikolai enters Price's office, seeing the stack of papers still to be filled out. All because of how the mission went. Nikolai sighs as he sits on the chair in front of the desk. He attempts to start a conversation that doesn't go as Nik expected. The room goes silent. Price looks to see who's been talking to him, realizing the mistake he made.
"I'm sorry, I'm just… not thinking right."
"Should I assume you haven't slept in days?"
The silence is Nikolai's answer. He pulls Price into a standing position and leads the captain out of his office. Price doesn't argue or stop Nikolai from taking him somewhere.
The two enter Price's room. Nikolai tells Price to change in the bathroom. The captain knows he can't argue.
Exhaustion hits Price once he steps out of the bathroom, but he's still stressed. "You will not sleep easily." Nikolai puts on a popular Russian song for slow dancing. Price watches the man, confused, until Nik puts his hand on Price's shoulder and hip. Nikolai's idea of getting Price to relax is slow dancing in the small room. The repeated motion helps Price relax.
Nik smiles as he lies Price on the bed. Ten minutes of dancing did the trick. After covering Price with the blanket, Nik kisses his forehead. Price is too relaxed to argue. Nikolai knows Price could argue about this kiss or all of tonight in the morning, but for now he watches the captain fall asleep. He leaves the room. The door clicks closed behind him.

Captain John Price sits on a stool at the kitchen island, watching Nikolai prepare ingredients for dinner. The man enjoys Nikolai’s cooking. When the two can enjoy something other than MREs, protein bars, or mess hall crap. Price watches the Russian’s careful movements with the knife as he peels vegetables. The only sound is the peeler as it peels the skin off carrots until…
“Ay, blyad!” Nikolai exclaims. Price is on his feet to get a better look. “Don’t worry! It’ll be fine—“
“Let me take care of you this time.”
“It’s just a—“
“Sit!”
Nik sighs and sits at a table. Price sees Nik’s bloody finger. Price gets a paper towel to shop the bleeding. Both know fingers is an area where bleeding can be worse than the injury, but Price is still worried.
The bleeding stops. Price sees a one and a half centimeter cut. He gets the first aid kit to clean and bandage the wound.
“You finished? So I can get back to making dinner?”
Price smiles as he cleans up the mess. He knows Nik won’t let him take over cooking if he asked.
