Some of the traditional sweets for the holiday of All Saints' Day (Tots Sants, November 1st) in the Valencian Country.
The most iconic sweets for this holiday around all the Catalan Countries are panellets: little balls of marzipan coated in pine nuts or with almond.
Then, every area has their own sweets for the holiday. In the Central Valencian Country, we can find the coques cristines and cofafes, two kinds of sweet flat breads or biscuits.
In Xixona (Alacant), it's also typical to eat doblades. They are sweet spongy cakes aromatized with aniseed (very typical spice in pastries and sweet breads all around the Catalan Countries), with some almonds on top.
All Saints' Day (Nov 1st) and All Souls' Day (Nov 2nd) are holidays about remembering our loved ones who have died. People go visit cemeteries and bring flowers to tombs. All of these sweet breads used to be given to children when going to the cemeteries, though nowadays they can be eaten anywhere.
